COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
New Belgium's seasonal release, Saison, pays tribute to Belgian farmhouse ales brewed to celebrate the fall harvest. Pale bronze in color, our Saison is slightly spicy and delicately hopped. A sweet malty note glides along with herbal tones produced by an authentic Belgian yeast strain. The finish is surprisingly dry.
Originally, local brewers crafted Saison beers for seasonal workers in the farming community to enjoy at the end of their day. With typical hoppy character and an intriguing Belgian twist, Saison will appeal to hop lovers and wheat beer drinkers alike. Whether you're pushing a plow or a pile of paper work, Saison will help you bask in the afterglow of a job well done.
Saison - Enjoy the season.
Pale bronze in color, this delicately hopped ale has a bright, yeasty, artisanal quality worthy of toasting those long autumn sunsets.

A good but not great saison. Mild esthers and some hoppiness. I like more fruitiness/spicyness in a saison. Very good, though.

12 oz bottle from mreusch - thanks! Best by Jan 07 - whoops. Clear amber with a beige head. How is this a saison? Soapy malt and ginger nose. Grainy, malty, more soap and cardamom. Meh. Drinkable, but damn sure not a saison.

Clear, warm metallic-gold body with moderate carbonation and an ample, sudsy white head. Fruity esters in the nose with notes of coconut, orange, and banana. Flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter with some mild tartness. Belgian yeast character is nutty and somewhat sickly and cloying. Lacks balancing spicy phenols. Bottle-conditioning might help. A little. I’d love to go back in a time machine to the days when RateBeer was young and taste the original incarnation of New Belgium saison.

Smells and tastes like a saison even though it doesn’t look like one. Funky barnyard nose. Small head. Tastes very alcoholic for it’s "size". Almost a summer session beer-I wish this came out in the summer rather than the fall. Overall a well done beer if not exact to style-one of my favorite NB beers.

Golden with a white head. Smells spicy and slightly hoppy. Taste is definitely spicy/hoppy and very pleasant. Tastes like the same yeast was used as in their trippel. Esters in the background. Nice.

Bottle. Orange pour with a white head. Aroma of light funk, light roasted malt, yeast, some floral fruitiness. Flavors of light roasted malt, orange zest, and yeast came through. Medium body though a light mouthfeel...spicy-sweet finish.

Pours golden with a large white head. Aroma is hoppy and yeasty (I am told they use wild belgian yeast). Flavor is slightly sweet, but finishes dry. Reminicent of their triple, but slightly lower gravity I believe.
