COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
New Belgium's seasonal release, Saison, pays tribute to Belgian farmhouse ales brewed to celebrate the fall harvest. Pale bronze in color, our Saison is slightly spicy and delicately hopped. A sweet malty note glides along with herbal tones produced by an authentic Belgian yeast strain. The finish is surprisingly dry.
Originally, local brewers crafted Saison beers for seasonal workers in the farming community to enjoy at the end of their day. With typical hoppy character and an intriguing Belgian twist, Saison will appeal to hop lovers and wheat beer drinkers alike. Whether you're pushing a plow or a pile of paper work, Saison will help you bask in the afterglow of a job well done.
Saison - Enjoy the season.
Pale bronze in color, this delicately hopped ale has a bright, yeasty, artisanal quality worthy of toasting those long autumn sunsets.

12oz, Best before 15JAN07. Pours a clear golden with a fading one finger off white head. Aroma has the typical Belgian yeast that they use in the Abbey and Trippel, with some bananas, dusty biscuits, bananas and maybe a little brown sugar. Flavor is quite different and more like a saison. Has some tangy oranges and spices, with the aforementioned bananas, yeast and toasty malts--somewhat sweet but not too bad. Light to medium carbonation, body is much the same. Not as good as their Biere de Mars, but not too bad.

Clear bronze with ample carb and a large head that quickly dissapates. Oranges, apples, and biscuity aroma. Rough on the tongue with a long tart malt finish.

Bottle thanks to kenb: Pours a clear golden bronze with a thin coating of wispy white head. Aroma is very reminiscent of an authenitc German hefeweizen with lots of bready yeast, banana, and spicy clove. Body starts with a pale biscuity malty sweetness revealing some more peppery clove flavor and a touch of earthiness. Fairly true to style, drinkable and enjoyable.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2007 Nice golden color. Great beer. Good crisp refreshing taste to it. Taste never gets old and I could drink it like a soda. Had in Denver for Barry’s wedding.

From a 12oz Bottle. Before opening the bottle, I’m left wondering how a saison ale cannot have a layer of conditioning yeast left resting on the bottom. What is the purpose of filtering a saison ale? Still, it pours a reasonable color of transparent golden straw, topped with a well-sustaining layer of sudsy white foam. Phenolic, bandagy aromas blend with some herbal lavender petals, some sweet banana, and some astringent herbs. Medium bodied, sparkling mouthfeel with an unpleasant bit of lingering sweetness left mingling with the messy herbal tones that linger on the palate. Flavors of banana and coriander with a bit of honey and macintosh apple fruity notes. More bandagy flavors. Overall I’m finding this too sweet, unpleasantly phenolic, and the spicy herbal characters seem too confused for my tastes.

The highest 10 raters of this beer swing from 2.1 to 4! Wow, its the Bob Dylan of beer. Unfortunately, I am gonna have to give it a "C" - average. Tastes somewhat like a Belgium Strong Ale, its a less noxious version of Pranqster. Strong fruitiness, long lingering after-taste, flavor is just a bit much.
