UPDATED: JUN 23, 2005 A wonderfully acidic, spicy, flavourful rendition of the style. Astonishingly refreshing with a huge blast of ginger and depth of pepper, earthy hoppiness, and a dry finish. Re-Rate is hopefully pending.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2007 Nice golden color. Great beer. Good crisp refreshing taste to it. Taste never gets old and I could drink it like a soda. Had in Denver for Barry’s wedding.

Growler
Gold with just a touch of red. Fluffy white head and sheet lacing. Sour aroms with bitter hops. Lemons for the scitrus and just a bare hint of smoke. Clove and pilsner malts. Flavor is so incredibly complex. Bitter and smoky with biscuits and doubh. Stong spice with a lot of clove it seems like. I’ve never encountered a saison like this from anywehre besides belgue. New Belgium Brewing Company--Saison Harvest Ale Fall Seasonal--2006 12 oz. Bottle. 6.50% ABV--35 IBU’s? (4.5 / 5.0) Saison--Rich lacy tight foamy head. Clear bright yellow gold color. Malty crisp floral wild ester hop coriander banana front. Tangy Belgian malty wheat Farmhouse body. Fresh zesty clean spicy hop wild ester end. Sampled 8/23/2006.

Big coriander, soury light fermented fruit, and flowers on the aroma... and the same on the mouth. The beer poured a yellow orange color w/ thin head and lacing. The mouthfeel was light and creamy.

This beer kicks ass. I do have to admit I am a big saison fan and this beer is true to style. Much better the NBB’s old saison. Golden and hazy very effervescent and yummy spice. Top Notch.

Appearance: light murky yellow, large white head, lacing
Flavor: some cloves, light bananas, malts, grass/hay, light mint, coriander
Palate: smooth, soft, biting mint-grass aftertaste

Not always available, but worth the wait. The spices come through nicely but not overpowering. A refreshing easy to drink saison.
