16-oz. can into a pint glass at my house on Nov. 4, 2012 (purchased at Vons in Mission Gorge (San Diego, Calif.) for $7.99 (with card) for a 4-pack on Nov. 4, 2012). Honey golden with 2-3 fingers of frothy white head. Good retention on the sides with foamy residue and pretty good on the top as well. Smelled honey, corn, grains, cereal, skunk, grass and a hint of citrus hops. Tasted pretty close to the nose, but more bitter. Got corn, grains, grass, honey, cereal and biscuit. Medium-to-light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter abrupt finish. Not a bad beer overall, especially for a lager, but I was hoping for something more.

This is a crisp and very tasty lager which I might have pinned as a session IPA or something had it not told me what it was on the can. It is crystal clear and orange golden in the glass with a little ring of head and a few spots of lace. This is definitely on the light side but still packs quite a lot of good, hoppy flavor. This is decidedly American in character w/ lots of citrus and some white grape notes. A cookie dough malt character gives everything support and brisk carbonation cuts through any sweetness to keep it lively and light. If you look at New Belgium’s ratings on this site, it seems like all their sours and stuff are getting the most attention as far as being great beers but if you ask me their real strength is making light, refreshing brews like this one, which they do as well as any brewer in the country.

Starts with a faint floral aroma, pours a clear light amber, with a white head. Nice bite of bitter hops, clean crisp flavor. Very light bodied, and easy drinking. A nice sessionable lager.

4/15/14. Pours a classic lager with maybe a little less head than other craft session beers. Mild nose but more assertive hop mouth than many lagers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 16oz can into a tulip glass. Golden amber pour with a bright white a frothy head. This beer is crystal clear with lots of carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass. The lacing is fine but irregular but does stay with the glass. The aroma is classic lager- biscuit and grassy, mild hops. There are hints of tropical fruits, but they are illusive at best. The body of this beer is heavier than expected from a lager, but the difference is welcoming. The palate is crisp and clean with nice malty notes balanced nicely with a piney hop bitterness. The hops continue through the finish and linger for a good 20 seconds. Overall, a very well done lager and a fantastic sessionable beer.

New Belgium done good with this excellent drinkable and flavorful premium pale lager! Perfectly supplies what the label claims, a sessionable cross between a pale lager and a pale ale. Packs the hoppy flavors of the pale ale, but has the cleaner and less bitter finish of a lager. A solid medium-bodied brew but not too filling. Aroma and taste are of good intensity, features pacific hops balanced by pale maltiness. Reminds me of Kona's longboard lager, although this beer's hoppiness tends towards piney flavors while longboard's hoppiness is more tropical and fruity. A fine-tuned brew, without a doubt my new go-to from New Belgium and whenever I'm looking for a quality pale lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Sample from 473 ml. can. Clear, golden colour with a small, white head. Sweet aroma with fruits, grasses, hay and pale malts. Taste is light sweet. Light to medium body. Short, bitter finish. Rather generic.
