This beer really tastes like a pale ale rather than a lager. It has a hoppy bitter taste. Not my favorite new belgium beer.

Picture perfect in the glass. Towering, fluffy white foam atop an ambr gold body with minute particles floating in suspension hazing it lightly. Pine needles, nettles and eucalypt dominate the very clean nose. A hint of toasted malt, hay bales and fresh mashed grist comes through as does a touch of white wine fruitiness. Oooh yeah, hoppy, clean, bitter and lasting. Palate is light with low carbonation giving it a supple creaminess. Vinous finish, raspy, herbal and dry for the length. Enough gritty malt to give it balance. Light sweetness to the front, fruity with underripe melon overtones. Overall a very refreshing, neat and polished lager. Delicious. Pretty good session type beer. Wonít go into rotation, but works well on nights when I need to actually be productive in the morning. Tastes pretty good. Gentle hops. Not much on the nose. Doesnít make me feel retarded after a 6 pack. A beer designed for crushing, thatís for sure. Though, at the price, I can find suitable replacements for the marathon sessions.

Pours light amber, lots of white billowed foam. Earthy hops and reserved, amber malts. Nice nose for a session IMO. Some corn pops up front, some malts, and some hints of wood. Meh. Thin bodied and hi carb, as expected. Has a semi dry finish. I would say this is great for 80 degree weather honestly, not that bad, but not that great. Slightly sweet.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours yellow-golden into the glass, with a soapy whipped head that leaves chunky lacing. The nose is of corn and hay. Flavors are of grains, light caramel malt, grassy bitters and finish with a similar grassiness. The mouthfeel is light and active, but this really lacks complexity on the palate. A nice "transition" beer for those whose tastes are still in the "macro" beer world to come to the dark side. So at least kudos for that, I guess.

12 oz can. Poured a pale golden color with a finger of white head. Very light beer with a tinge of hop flavor. Easy drinker, great beer if your going to drink more than one.

P: Medium body, medium/high carbonation.
O: Itís better than macro lagers but not my style. Vegetal notes, too much biscuit malt with earthy notes.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Orange enough to be mistaken for a pale ale, this lager reminds me much of an ale fermented with lager yeast. Not only does it look like a pale ale, but it also smells like a moderately caramelized pale ale, clean and fortunately void of any intense nasty lager characteristics. A strange, soft yeasty character is there, but itís malty sweet and fruity.
In the mouth... ick. Iím sorry, but this is just horrible. It leads with a lightly caramelized lager flavor, but then pummels mid-mouth and well into the finish with a can-flavored, metallic bitter nastiness. I know that can doesnít actually impart any flavor into its contained beer, but this is just awful. Itís astringent, and thereís nothing about this beer thatís even the slightest bit enjoyable.
I would definitely not be looking forward to drinking this after my shift. Still, somehow my wife says it tastes good... I must be broken, and yet I donít feel like Iím missing much here. Something must have gone wrong with his beer, because I somehow doubt that this beerís flavor was intentional.

Served from bottle at Whole Lotta Brews festival. Pours light golden with a modest off-white head and a toffee aroma. There is a hearty pale malt flavor with a slightly bitter finish. A nice session beer.
