COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editorís note: in 2006, Skinny Dip replaced Loft as the name of New Belgiumís low-alcohol, low-calorie summer seasonal (only minor changes in recipe; i.e. still approximately 4% ABV and spiced with Kaffir lime leaf).

Skinny Dip Description: New Belgiumís Skinny Dip started out as a challenge from our founder Jeff to brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert. Jeff was looking for a full-bodied, highly drinkable beer for after workouts - something a little lighter than the rest of the portfolio. Peter, a Belgian, responded: ďOnly in America would I be asked to brew a beer with no calories and less alcohol.Ē The challenge was to give the beer body and complexity not usually found in beers at the lighter end of the spectrum. The result is Skinny Dip, a full-bodied beer that happens to weigh in at a crisp 114 calories per 12-ounce serving. Cascade hops frolic with a hint of lime leaf, making Skinny Dip a bright, refreshing splash for the summer season.

Loft Description: In a category all its own, Loft delivers an uplifting zest, a taut line of hoppiness, and, from integrated wheat and barley malt, a mouthful as big as the sky. Spiced with Kaffir lime leaves.

No nose, pilsner look. Very light. Not much flavor. Hard to distinguish. Fresh mild grains.

Soft lime aromas. Slightly hazy orange-gold with a mostly lasting white head. Bready and limey, with faint earthy hops. Light bodied, very crisp.

Bottle. Pours a copper color with white head. Grainy, spicy, malty, slight fruity aromas and flavors. A solid brew that takes me back to the old days with New Belgium.

The latest 2015 release just isnít as good as the previous years. Kaffir lime leaves made it perfect to me, and they removed it.

Pours a copper color. About a one finger head. No real lacing. Nothing impressive thus far. Iíll give it an extra point for the cool bottle.

Aroma is weird. Itís citrusy and spicy. I donít really like it.

Taste is pretty good. Itís somewhat hoppy. Thereís some citrus in it. Itís light but has a full flavor taste. Iím not really picking up anything thatís distinctive in flavor. Itís supposed to have peach juice in it...oh yeah, where? Doesnít taste bad. I like it okay.

Palate is medium-light. Very drinkable. Itís crisp, itís slightly dry. The hoppiness shows up more in the finish.

Overall, I like it. I really donít want to like it. I donít know why. Thereís something about thiis I hate, but looking at the score I have given it, I guess I do actually like it. I guess the best feature is that New Belgium has achieved a full flavor in a light style beer. Itís surprising really. Itís not great, but itís pretty good. I would have this again.

Gold pour with a white head. Lightly bitter with a hint of peach, but not much. After taste and palate are floral, which doesnít go well here.
