3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. I have had this beer a few times and really enjoyed it, but never gave it a review. Pours a ruby-tinted dark brownish black with good clarity. Small sheet of lace atop. The nose is full of fruity aromatics and freshly-ground up hops. Zing! That’ll do. Fresh, potent, if not sinus-clearing.
Good clean feel with ample carbonation. Easy to sip, easier to gulp. The hoppy quality carries over to the flavor, but it doesn’t take over as a nice dry graham cracker sweetness forces its way through. Bitterness isn’t cutting at all, as the singe left on the palate, fleets away quickly, ready to be bombarded again.
A good beer. I wasn’t even sure of what this style was, but that’s okay. I approached this one with no misconceptions or prejudices. I’d gladly have this again.

A: black with a finger off toasted cream head which falls quickly to a sheet of the same. sheet lace.
S: Spicy hops and toasted malts. Smells like an ABA. Some hints of burnt raisins. Me like.
T: Sharply bitter with a spicy tone over a nice toasted, dark malt profile. Good stuff.
M: medium bodied with slightly hi carb and a little to wet for my preference in this one.
O: This is the first beer in quite some time I’ve purchased and consumed over and over. I like it.

It’s like a brown ipa. Dark brown color with hints of red. Tall tan head that lingers and sticks to the glass. Aroma is sweet, cocoa and hops. A great mix of hops and malts that will not let you down.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2013 Bottle: looks completely black upon pouring, but holding to the light reveals some deep ruby highlights. Beige-ish head with great retention, leaving a huge web of lacing all around. Aroma includes heavy cocoa & chocolate, a bit of roasted malt, & a wet, dripping dank note from the hops. Kind of herbal & maybe slightly citric, too. Taste starts off with some stale cocoa malt & a touch of ashiness with a floral, slightly dank & oily hop presence over top. Slight green, earthy, & onion-y notes hidden. Mildly bitter finish with a faint staleness about it. Citric bit grows with warmth but is still balanced by roasted, chocolate malts.

Taste is sort of earthy with caramel and a nice moderate amount of hop kick to it. Well rounded.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
It pours dark brown with an attractive sugar cookie batter colored head of froth. Mouth watering aroma with notes of chocolate and rich malts. First sip. Wow. Toasted grain, caramel, chocolate, and malt. Really good. Medium body and carbonation, hoppy, with a nice bittersweet quality. The finish is crisp, refreshing, and ends with a nice lingering chalky dark chocolate finish. Great Brew for the price.
