Off the bat, the beer looks like cloudy cola. However! Very intriguing aroma and the chocolate and brown malt is subtle. The flavor is hard to describe; rinds me of the moment you walk into a nice sushi bar. Strange yes, but it is a great seasonal beer.

Bottle: Poured into a shaker, it was black with two fingers of a frothy tan head and lacing. The aroma is roasted malts and pine needles. The flavor had some caramel malt to it. The taste was slightly bitter with a somewhat dry finish.

"12oz bottle poured into a Shaker at 40°. Color is a deep brown near black with good carbonation and a rocky light tan head. Aroma is a bright fresh hop scent. It has a medium body and smooth mouth feel. Flavor is very lightly roasted malt backed by nice hop spice and flavor that gives just a hint of citrus and a mild bitterness. In the after taste the hop flavor stands out and somehow it finishes with a faint sweetness. Overall I like it, the hops are very well balanced and lean on the side of flavor rather than bitterness. I was expecting more roasted flavor from a Black IPA but this is really good the way it is.

Aromas of piney hops and a kind of cola. Taste mostly from the malts: sweet bread, toffee, caramel. There is some pine in the finish.

Wow does midnight wheat know how to smooth a palate out and give a light creamy feel to it! Great aroma of pine, citrus, grapefruit, roasted malts, light cocoa and a hint of chocolate... Same taste with an exceptionally smooth finish and bitterness. Complex yet simple, smooth and enjoyable.

On tap at the brewery. Black appearance with a khaki colored head and sticky lacing. Aroma of dark nutty malts, roasted grain, cocoa, light coffee, earthy hops and hints of grass and pine. Mild malt sweetness balanced by a mild to moderate hop bitterness. Medium body with a lingering finish. Wow, I don’t remember this one tasting so good!

New Belgium Snow Day drinks like a porter with the body and notes to match. Dark pour with a thick, tan, frothy head. Aroma is of chocolate and caramel. Taste is much like a porter with chocolate and caramel (to a lesser extent) notes. Snow Day can be enjoyed on any day -- a nice seasonal.
