Somersault is a fun roll around on the tongue, while requiring only the minimum of palate gymnastics. This is the perfect summer lounge-around beer. Somersault tumbles out with citrus aroma from Centennial hops, a soft apricot fruitiness tucked into the flavor, a full mouthfeel from the addition of oats and a crisp, dry finish from the subtle addition of ginger.

Hearty almost tropical aroma but not skunky. Highly carbonated. Great dry bitterness from hops reminiscent of champagne. Hints of ginger n apricot subtly combine.

12 oz bottle, dated "best before" 4 Sept. 2011, served in a pint glass. (from notes) Pours golden/light amber with an ample white head. Appears to have light, fine carbonation. Aroma: some nice fruitiness, with a clear note of apricot, over a bed of light toasted grains, Centennial hops and baked bread. Apricot is in the flavor as well, but the beer is not sweet. Instead, NB has achieved an excellent balance of sweet, tart and bitter. Other flavor components include some pepperiness (white), ginger, hops and lemon. These too are excellently balanced in this easy drinking but moderately complex and certainly interesting brew. M - mildly crisp with a semi-dry and moderately tart finish. Excellent carbonation. Medium-light body. O - a pleasant surprise. Although Somersault has a different flavor profile, there’s enough similarity for me to highly recommend this to fans of Magic Hat #9. This one is probably best-of-style for me so far and one I anticipate seeking out in the future.
