3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle pours with a crystal clear gold body that supports a white head. The aroma offers up sweet smelling fruity esters like red apple slices and pears to go along with mild doughy note mixed with yeasty spices. The taste is rather fruity esters forward like the nose where Iím getting sweet pears and apples that eventually blend with a hodge podge of yeasty spices and floral hops. The hops lean more toward bitter into the finish to help fight off the sweetness thatís going on here.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
January 28th, 2014 - New Belgiumís Spring Blonde is a lovely clear brew, with a big frothy top. Even with a wait and a few sips, the foam persists, never giving up, never letting me down. The aroma, far from a bland blonde, is more like a triple, rich with wheat and pear and a hint of lime. The flavor is somewhat obscured by a sudsy palate, but I can still catch the grain profile, bringing out those wheat brew notes, intense and powerful. As craft beer goes this is a frugal choice, but it packs a lot of flavor for what it costs, and for that reason makes a great brew for social events - impress crowds, drink good beer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
355ml bottle from Mitsuyaís Liquor in Asagaya, Tokyo. Poured into an English tulip pint. Clear straw golden color with a nice soapy white head that hangs around for a fair amount of time. After about 30 minutes it looks like a pale lager or pilsner in the glass. Banana, pineapple and citrus aroma. As it warms up a slight bubblegum aroma comes out. Almost no malt notes are noticeable. Strong wheat presence on the palate with lemon standing out particularly strongly. A slight sourness becomes noticeable on the palate after coming to room temperature. Soda-pop like carbonation with a medium dry finish.

Not bad but nothing special. Nice malty beer with aroma of Spring. Easy to drink and quite thin too.

07.13.14 Best by date.
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 04.10.14.
A: 1 finger head with an aggressive pour. Very light see through yellow.
S: Hops. Some sourness.
T: Lemon and honey dominate. It also has slight malt, some bitter hops.
O: This was ok. It was easy to drink and very light. It had a nice balance. There wasnít much else. There are much better blondes out there.

A decent choice if your looking for something light and not over powering. Just sort of what you would expect for a spring afternoon with a light lunch or afternoon snack. Cereal, hay, citrus, and a quick dissipating head.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a crystal clear golden color. The head is about two-fingers high, and completely white in shade. Itís quite bubbly in texture, with retention that isnít quite fantastic. Streaks of lacing are left on the glass. Iím usually wary of a Belgian-style ale thatís perfectly clear, so Iím not going to give a great score for that.
S: The aroma is both lemony and somewhat sweet. There are underlying notes of Belgian yeast, with a hint of phenol to back the aforementioned fruit esters and candied sugar. Faint touches of earthy hops also appear. Not a bad aroma, but too sweet for me, without enough of a balancing bitterness.
T: At first, itís very sweet and lemony. Thereís just a kiss of Belgian yeast here to go with the general opening flavors. The finish is a lot more enjoyable - the sugary notes fade, being replaced with a subtle hit of noble hops. Itís the gentle bitterness that damn near saves this beer entirely. This could have been a sugary mess, but itís actually pleasantly balanced and moderately enjoyable.
M: I want to say that the body is medium, with a one-two punch of healthy carbonation and a dry finish helping to make this go down easily. The aftertaste has a gentle bitterness that lingers nicely on the palate.
O: This oneís slightly better than I anticipated. While the Belgian yeast is almost a non-factor, itís still a decent beer thanks to the mild bitterness and easy-drinking nature. Itís not amazing or complex, but itíll get the job done. Worth trying.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transfer from BA review on 4-28-14-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance Ė The beer pours a clear medium golden amber color with a two finger head of white billowy foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell Ė The aroma of the beer is very light overall with just a bit of a citrus smell of lemon and some candied sugar, toasted malt, and some yeasty smells.
Taste Ė The taste begins with a bready and slightly yeasty flavor. Some lightly toasted Belgian malt flavors quickly come to the tongue along with some sweeter flavors of fruit with them being of a pear and a bit of apple. A little bit of a candied sugar taste later comes to the tongue with some lemongrass coming as well. All the while, the bready flavors convert more toward a doughy flavor as the taste advances to the end. Some hay comes to the tongue at the end as well, leaving a somewhat crisp but lightly sweetened malty flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel Ė The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Both are rather nice for the mix of Belgian malt flavors and candied sugar/fruit flavors all while the higher carbonation level really does a nice job of keeping the brew crisp and refreshing.
Overall ĖWhile a bit light in the Belgian spice, the Belgian malt was quite nice and made for an interesting and overall nice drinking brew.

Poured from bottle into tulip. Pours a light yellow with creamy, thick, four finger head. Aroma - lemon, spicy yeast, soft hops. Taste - sweet malt, some citrus, spicy yeast notes, warm bread. Refreshing on palate. Not my favorite blonde ever, but pretty nice.
