Commercial Description:
Ale brewed with wormwood, goji berries, and schisandra. Deftly, this spring brewed venture lands on its feet. Springboard combines oats, ancient Chinese herbs and Mt. Hood hops to maintain a balanced equilibrium for such an exhilarating ale. This cloudy blonde has a spirited threshold, and a creamy body, followed by a refreshingly dry finish.

bb 06June08. Smokestack chalice. Aroma is very herbal, light citrus, toasty/cracker-like, honey. Gold colored with a smallish head. Taste is toasty, herbal, with touch of vanilla. A little tannic, with a full mouthfeel, but a dry finish. An interesting beer, to be sure. The first time I had something about the beer turned me off greatly, but it seems the one aspect of the beer that I disagreed with is no longer something that bother me.

pous a hazy yellow color with large head. slight sour citrus in the noise, some spices. wormwood is not evident in the nose or taste. slight woody flavor may be due to the oak aging. not bad, but I wonder what the purpose was. I can’t think that this sells that much.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy, light honey color with a big, billowy 3 finger white head with spotty lacing. Nose is slightly weird sour smell upfront with lemon grass and spice. Taste is similar to the aroma. Medium mouth feel. Strange brew, eh.

This essentially tastes very similar to Fat Tire, which I am not really a fan of. Same biscuit like malts observed in Fat Tire. Other than the 1554, none of what New Belgium imports into MN excites me. Now if we could get the abbey dubbel, abbey tripel, and La Folie, then I might get more excited about this brewery. I had this a beer tasting in a wine specialty store.

12 oz bottle in Lebanon, MO. Pours a hazy light yellow. Nice white head that dissipates quickly. I can’t quite place the smell, but the yeast is nice. Has a nice citrus aftertaste and is an overall nice average summer beer.

Bottle Seattle 08’ Summer in a bottle. Not overly intense as I expected when I saw wormwood listed on the bottle. Decent restrained beer that goes well with the heat.

This is a summer beer and therefore light. Aroma, flavor, malt , hopping, mouth feel, complexity all were at that leval. It is a reasonable summer beer.

Aroma of light lime/citrus and an earthy hoppiness. Nice crisp flavor with hints of lime, toast, and lighter citrus hops. Pretty thin, light, and very easy to drink. I thought there was a decent amount of complexity in this light beer. It quenched my thirst after moving a ton of stuff on a hot night.
