Commercial Description:
Ale brewed with wormwood, goji berries, and schisandra. Deftly, this spring brewed venture lands on its feet. Springboard combines oats, ancient Chinese herbs and Mt. Hood hops to maintain a balanced equilibrium for such an exhilarating ale. This cloudy blonde has a spirited threshold, and a creamy body, followed by a refreshingly dry finish.

Pours hazy, pale, light gold, with a humble, white head. The head maximizes at about a quarter of an inch of tiny to medium bubbles. Miniscule orbs of carbonation continually ascent the brew throughout the tasting. Retention is decent with a light skimcoat and some ringwork on the glass. Aromatics are zesty, spicy, and a bit wild. A mild wheat twang of lemon spritz and peppery undertones lean in a "Wit" direction. A mild funk with musty notes exudes from the goblet, followed by grassy, earthy accents. The mouthfeel is lightly spritzy and mildly creamy. Crisp and quenching. The pallet is dry and peppery, with pilsner-like hopping and a lingering lemony tartness. The earthy promise from the nose is followed through on the tongue, and is joined by dried moss, kaffir leaves, and some woody tannins. Finishes with a lingering dry bitterness, a peppercorn warmth on the throat, and a crisp farewell. Some cellaring may mellow out some of the unique spicing.

Pours thin murky yellow with a large foamy white head... the head is the only redeeming quality of appearance. Sour metallic spicy aroma like that of cheap Asian beer. Wheat flavor with a good balance of the above spices. The wormwood adds a nice bitter effect. Palate is kinda creamy/wheaty and well carbonated. eh...useless

Aroma had an unusual though not totally unpleasent grassy character. Poured pale yellow and slightly cloudy with a fair amout of carbonation. Flavor was citrusy and slightly hoppy. Not a complete drain pour, but honestly I didn’t much care for it.

Pale gold with rich bubbly head. Fresh, flowery aroma. Nice lacing on the glass. Oak seems non-commital, needs either more or none. Herbs are interesting. Pleasant astrigency. Lots of interesting things happening that seem to be interferring with each other.

Interesting. Pours a pale, slightly cloudy yellow with a white head. Flowery, alcohol aroma. Quite spicy and carbonated. A flavor I would call interesting before great. Almost like a wine with the alcohol evident and the dry finish. Not bad. Not one of my favorites from New Belgium.

Pours a cloudy amber, with little head and no lacing, very similar to their Mothership Wit. Odd aroma to say the least. Flavor is also odd. I’ve taken wormwood before as a supplement, and this definately has that flavor. I’m not sure why any brewer would consider it for a beer, but here we are. This has an odd medicinal flavor to it, that just doesn’t mesh. Palate is above average, as it is fairly creamy and smoother than I expected. Overall an interesting beer. I’m glad someone gave it a shot, but this isn’t one I’ll be buying again.
