Commercial Description:
Ale brewed with wormwood, goji berries, and schisandra. Deftly, this spring brewed venture lands on its feet. Springboard combines oats, ancient Chinese herbs and Mt. Hood hops to maintain a balanced equilibrium for such an exhilarating ale. This cloudy blonde has a spirited threshold, and a creamy body, followed by a refreshingly dry finish.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a cloudy, pale pilsener golden with a small, white head - looks pretty much like a Belgian Wit. Sweetish, fruity, berry-like aroma. Medium body, sweetish, lightly malty with very fruity accents. Also in the flavours this reminds me mostly of a Belgian Wit although with a completely different spicing - more exotic. The finish is quite bitter. Interesting. 280307

(Bottle, BB 15 JUN 07) Pours a clear yellow body with a medium-sized egg-white head. Aroma of toasted oats, oregano, nuts, and a hint of wild berries. Flavor of nuts, herbs, quality toasted oats, and white grapes in the finish. Creamy mouthfeel. An interesting experimental ale.

Pours hazy gold with a thin white head. Smells of lemons, oranges, spices, grassy, doughy and slightly bitter. Tastes of oranges with grassy hints, dough and some underlying bitterness. Mouthfeel is tingly and tangy. Finish is slightly bitter. An interesting experiment, but it doesn’t live up to many of their other beers.

I’m not sure what New Belgium was after here, but it wasn’t a second purchase by me. Looks fine, a sparkling pale gold with a smallish white head. It smells of freshly rinsed iceberg lettuce, cane sugar, pale malt, and some sort of berry or another. It had a kind of sour vegetal flavor with a light herbal bitterness. The vegetables and fruit were all fresh, but that’s really not what I’m looking for in any beer.

Heavily hazed straw color with a moderate fluffy white head. Aromas of raw wheat, lime zest, dry yeast and lemon grass. Heavy flavors of pale malt and oats linger throughout the quaff. Key limes, white grapes and a generic bitterness wanders in and out of the grains. A funky herbal brew.

Bottle: A pale yellow color with an overzeleous puffy white head. The nose is bright with pretention as i’m only getting a bit of citrus, yeast and pale malt. What’s up with this badass ingredient list if you’re not going to highlight them? The flavor is thin, is this another Loft relabel? Some husk and orange peel, a bit of floral hops. Meh. Supremely underwhelming. This bottle sold itself out.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (dough), with light notes of tree bark, lime zest, dish rag, and bitter defeat. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, husky, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. More evidence that New Belgium has stopped trying.

A hazy light yellow body is topped with a fluffy white head. The aroma is mild sweet cherries with a little hay and some herbs. The taste is interesting with some medicinal notes. The finish is woody and dry, like sucking on a burnt match. The body is very light on the tongue. This is not a pleasant beer. It needs something to balance the herbs.
