Brewmaster Grady Hull and Alex Jesse from New Belgium flew from Fort Collins, CO to Seattle, mashed in with Elysian-Capitol Hill Brewmaster Markus Stinson and fellow brewers, then drove out to the Gamache Family hop farm in Yakima to bring back freshly harvested wet hops which were used in multiple additions during the brew that same day.

Draft at Capitol Hill Elysian. Poured golden yellow/orange with a small white head. The nose is citrus, but also earthy hops mixed with moderate sweet caramel, resin, and pineapple. The taste is initially earthy hops, transition into pineapple, citrus, slight spice, and a long, bitter, astringent hop finish. Great fresh hop ale.

Draft @ Belmont Station. Bright but subtle citrus, grass fresh hop, light caramel. Moderate carbonation, slightly hazy, copper-orange color, long lasting off white veil and great lacing. Medium citrus and earth bitterness rounded with medium light caramel sweetness. Medium body, cricky texture, lively carbonation. Increasingly bitter attack fades to balance with malt sweetness in middle and comes back to bitter for long dry finish with just right amount of astringency. Wish I’d had I - V. Great fresh hop beer. One of the best I’ve had.

Strawberry tone comes out clearly (despite the buffalo wing sauce on my fingers), resin hops and malt syrup, Cloudy amber with adequate head. Chewy texture with sharp moments protruding. the bitter builds slowly to almost metallic balanced’ w/a watery sweetness w/ some yeast flavor.an almost minty finsih. the murky appearance reflects the weird balance going on here, not quite fitting together but no tension of teetering.

Nose of doughy malts, fresh hoppy aromas with earth and citrus - oranges and lemon. Pours golden, very hazy with a big bubbled head and nice lace, Doughy malt flavors with fresh citrus and leafy notes. Not over the top bitter, but fresh and fruity and well done.

On tap at Brouwer’s Washington Beer Fest. Nice, hoppy, standard IPA. Nothing too great about it (hops aren’t quite as prevalent as I’d like for a fresh-hop brew) - but this is definitely good.
