| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Local supermarket. Orval chalice. Set on fridge to warm slightly. Pours a sparkling gold with rocky off-white head. Lively scent of fresh barnyard and banana peel. Taste of spicy tropical fruit with a long, smooth malt finish. A little prickly on the tongue. Overall a fine example of Belgian character, smooth, yet slightly challenging. It’s funny buying a six-pack of tripel for the same price as one Westmalle. Good value indeed. dwaggs2 (534), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 31, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear golden yellow color with a large frothy white head that produces amazing lacing and has superb retention. This beer is a treat on the eyes. Aroma is a very slight malt yeast combo with a nice sweet back to it all. Flavor is slightly spicy with a nice fruity nod and that Belgian yeast is at the forefront giving the beer a nice slight banana flavor. Just the right amount of sweetness too. Very well done! This beer is wonderful. By far the best year round offering from New Belgium. I can drink this bad boy all day and night. BVery (461), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA

Taste is a little bit earthy and malty, but not as much spice as I would expect. Pretty good beer, but just okay for a tripel.
