Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

12oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Poured a clear pale gold with lots of head. Spicy aroma with more clove than banana. A bit of burnt sugar and a little noble hop aroma. Medium bodied with some sweetness. Banana fruitiness. Plenty of carbonation. Aroma is nice, but it seems a little thin. Pretty drinkable for the ABV. Nice price.

12 oz Bottle. Really sweet and perfumey - if that makes any sense.Pours golden hazy with fluffy white head. Aroma is hops and just a touch of must, to let us know its a trippel. If you want a dictionary definition of a trippel - here’s your beer! Effervescent - much like Champagne. Hoppy in just the right amount. Malted in just the right amount. The part of me that seeks dischord reels at this beer. The part of me that seeks perfection loves this beer. It’s, well, the Paul McCartney of beers.

Bottle. Pours a crystal clear light golden body with a snow white, fizzy, finger-width head that dissipates quickly and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is bittersweet bread malts and a distinct Belgian yeast. Touch of spices and wheaty banana. Flavor is malty sweet initially before turning to a spicy and yeasty finish. Good touch of earthy hops to balance the malts. More of the smooth banana wheat taste in the finish too. Very very very light lingering bitterness. Like most beers by New Belgium, the palate is pretty medium to full and silky smooth. Touch of carbonation at the end. Overall, a very nice take on the style. Not the most flavorful tripel, but New Belgium continues to use great malts in their beers and this is no exception. Pretty solid.

Bottle: Pours a clear copper color with no head...the nose on this is extremely disappointing, notes of pale, biscuit-y malts, corn, light wheat and some very faint candied sugar. Very light, overly carbonated body. Flavor was equally as boring as everything mentioned previously, some straw, candy sugar and corn. Possibly a bad bottle or poor handling?

Bottle. Pours a clear dark gold with a 2 finger foamy off white head. The nose is bready yeast, Belgian spice and light fruit. Taste is similar with a interesting vegetable tone in the finish. Medium mouth feel.
