Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

Aroma lacks anything promising, just metallic. However, the taste is great. A great balance all around, although it is a little thin/light. Great yeast flavors and well crafted, but it would benefit from more malt and hop flavor. It is still fantastic, just doesn’t reach perfection.

pours a very clear pale yellow with a large head that dissipates into nice lacing. scent of orange that fades quickly, with a banana linger. smooth and creamy palate. I detect a little corn taste, but can’t tell if it is from corn sugar or DMS. light lemon in the background. even thought the palate is creamy, it is quite drinkable. very faint warming.

Pours clear amber gold with a nice, slightly off white head. Sweetish, yeasty aroma, with some flowery hop notes. Flavor is sweet at first, with a finish that grows progressively drier and more bitter. Some citrus, banana, and spice flavors in there. Mouthfeel is smooth, viscous, and a little sticky. This one grew on me, quite nice.

Reminds me a lot of Victory’s Golden Monkey, which is a good thing. Bonus: it costs less. From a 12-oz. bottle, this pours a crystal light golden with a sizable, fluffy white head. Good lacing. Sweet, clovey aroma. Lots of bananas, cloves and citrus in the complex flavor. Some bittering to offset the sweetness as well. Medium bodied with an almost syrupy smoothness. Very good.

bottle from homer321: pours a clean golden hue with a thick white head, small alcing and a good layer of the head stays. aroma is nice full of sweet sugary malt, slight spice of corriander ans some loavely floralness. the falvour is a misx of sweet and bitter, starting with the sticky sugar sweetness that goes quickly bitter with flavours of toasted malt and rich spices, the palate is a little sticky but not to bad.

Pours a deep gold with a moderate white head. Aroma is slightly wine-like, with some honey, grape, and pungent grain, mild cheese and slight alcohol. Taste reminds me a little of champagne (not the real good stuff), bitter honey, moderate hop flavor, apples, with an earthier slant on the finish. more carbonated than the abbey dubbel and more apparant alcohol. Perhaps it’s slightly more complex, but I’m not sure if I enjoyed this as much as the dubbel. It’s good stuff and certainly priced well, but compared to beers like Westmalle, it doesn’t have much of a chance. Just don’t think of other beers, and you’ve got something really good here!

12oz bottle, best by Jan ’09. Deep golden-orange, clear, with a small head, some lasting foam, some lace. The aroma has some green apple and grape with some doughy yeast, sweet honey, and subtle hop spice. Sweet, honeyish flavor, with a drying and slightly astringent mouthfeel. A little tangy, fruity character. Light hops in the finish that provide moderate bitterness. Drinkable, but lacking the boldness and character of a good tripel. Too filtered and toned down. I would never turn one down, and this does come in sixers for the same price as fat tire, but there are plenty of better tripels available.
