Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

Pours a dark golden color with very little to no head. Aroma is a musky malt fruitiness with some bread grain notes. Flavor starts out with a very sweet malt but ends abruptly with a syrupy mouth feel. Some hop spiciness lingers. Nothing crazy, and easily drinkable, what hurts this beer is that it doesn’t take any chances and ends up just mixed in with the rest.

Poured from bottle. Nice darker golden color, with good sized white head. Hints of banana, slight vanilla. Nice flavor, very drinklable.

It’s muted in a good way, working well to blend in a myriad of spice and caramel flavors that other tripels let overpower.

Bottle, pours golden with medium white head. Very smooth taste. Non-offensive tripel (not extreme).

Pours a very clear orange golden color with a mildly yellow-white head. The aroma is mostly a sweet bready malt with some spiciness added in from the malts. The flavor starts off with the typical biscuity, sugary Belgian Trippel flavors and then the sip is finished off with a powerful spiciness from the hops with some grapefruit on the finish. On the palate this beer is nice and smooth, easy to drink, and clean finishing. Overall this is a very approachable, if perhaps a little bit ordinary, Trippel.

Bottle. Pours a beautiful golden color with nice white head. Great lacing. Aroma of banana and bread dough/yeast. Tastes of banana again, as well as some spiciness from the hops, with some slight toffee notes from the malt. A great all around beer that masks the high alcohol content well. Definitely recommended, and it is the closest thing to a true abbey ale as an American Brewer has ever produced. Great complexity!

Bottle Seattle 08’. The best of the New Belgium mix 6 I picked up. Yeast, bananas, and grassy citrus hops. Really well done. Will be pulling favors to get this mailed out east.

Bottle: pours light copper color white head. Banana, dough like aroma. Highly carbonated with a doughy, slight yeast and slight alcohol taste. Smooth tasting beer for a trippel, but I was teased by the banana like aroma and hoping for more sweetness. I like when brewers get crazy with fruit and sweet flavors sometimes found in these beers. Good nevertheless.
