Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

Verfy fruity. Bottle, pours golden with medium white head. Citrus and sugary aroma. Very smooth taste which a nice hop touch. A bit more body than it appears.

The best thing about this ale is its beautiful golden color. Nose is yeasty, with spice, citrus and banana. Taste brings the banana and spice back, while malt provides background. Mouthfeel is good, but reminds me of candy, as does the aftertaste.

Hmmm, I’m a little surprised this didn’t do much for me, after tasting successes with the 1554 and the Abbey (Dubbel) from the brewery. It’s quite plain for a Trippel. The standard-setters for the style remain Affligem and St. Bernie’s.

Golden body with a white head. Aroma is sweet fruits. A bit funky taste to it. Slightly bubbly carbonation to it. There’s not really anything bad about it, but it’s just not a very memorable beer, and I have to say that’s the worst thing about it.

Bottle. Amazing stuff. It didn’t look like much with its clear, golden color and big soapy bubbles. Nice muted aroma of yeast and citrus. Flavors meld bananas, lemons, and spice, but all so much more muted than many of this style. This works as a great, smooth summer ale that’s scary sessionable for the strength.

Golden...small lingering head. Aroma of citrus, persimmon, straw. Flavors remind me of Triple Karmaliet, with strong cardamon and candy sugar. Significant spice, wood, funky fruit, flowery hops, some bitter and acedic notes.
