hepburn82 (141), Scotland Nov 19, 2006 Bottled. No directions on bottle to leave the lees although it does mention that its bc. Authentic banana esters from yeast. Quite a malty nose too, with no real hint of the hops to come. Flavour brings some bubblegum, some hoppy bitterness, more banana and plenty o’malt. The hops are secondary in this brew for me, and although distinct always play second fiddle to the great yeast. Palate is almost perfect i think. Mouthfeel is smooth, syrypy and sweetish with the hops balancing everything out for a progressive and long lasting finish. Yummy. mfincher (15), Wills Point, Texas, USA Nov 13, 2006 I am a huge New Belgium fan. This is my favorite. A thin golden pour with a thin white head. Taste of spices, bananas and hops. It has quite the punch pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Nov 8, 2006 Body is a slighty hazy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, smellls candish, almost with a bit of gummy bears? with some caramel, and pineapple. Taste is slightly alcoholic, with some spice, slight hop background. Body is a bit fizzy. JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Nov 6, 2006 Pours a gold with white head. Aroma of sweet malt, banana, spices. Flavors of floral fruit, yeast, banana, and spice. Typical tripel. jgd0608 (187), Zeeland, South Carolina, USA Nov 3, 2006 Golden pour with a finger of bubbly off white head. Floral and fruity notes galore. Tastes citrusy, apples, with fine malts and hops which are balanced very nicely. I’m startin to like new belgium more and more every day. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Oct 25, 2006 1 finger head. Light brown to tan. Has a smell of oak and a hint of apple. The taste of appels is very present with the oak. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 20, 2006 Fine offering from this brewer. Pouring a clear golden tint with a bright white rocky head. The nose all yeast...fruity and acrid. The flavors are light plums, cherries, and yeasty citric fruitiness. There is a bit of a dry alcoholic finish. Mouthfeel seemed pretty thin, though, especially considering the style. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Oct 18, 2006 How this outrates so many great authentic Belgium tripels is beyond me. This is an alright beer especially for the price though. Pours clear filtered bright yellow with hyperactive carbonation and a good sized white head. The aroma is peppery spice with light earthiness, light sweetness and a bit musty along with a bit of richness. Medium body with sharp carbonation that is much sharper than most I’ve had of the style. Starts with a sourness, light barnyard and some richness with a light syrup taste and feel. The finish has some spice and light astringency added to things. An okay beer that is highly enjoyable for the price.
