| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 5, 2006 A pretty disappointing beer within style. Poured light amber color with zero head and no lacing. The aroma was the best part, with some apples and spices coming through an overall musty smell. The mouthfeel was light for a tripel, the flavor only average or so: an American wheat type base taste with some floral aspects, candi sugaring, and light apples. The strength of hopping was the only solid part of the showing. The fact that this one had an expiration date only a year after purchasing ought to tell you that it ain’t no true Belgian, despite the brewer’s name. jake65 (1698), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Nice golden pour with a consistent white head and mild bubbliness. Tastes of floral and citrus tones, also a bit of yeast. Smooth to drink and medium in flavor intensity. Bartzilla (443), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 29, 2006 See! I told you! Once Flat Tire got off the ground and in every girl’s heart on the West Coast, I knew these guys would filter those profits back down to the beer nerds. This is a fine example of their efforts. Finally, a true Belgium recipe that works. Sweet, hoppy, malty, strong, delicious. And, fairly priced. 8 bucks a six pack. On the corner store. IN WALKING DISTANCE. Oh man. I knew they turned the corner when they got me my Hennepin, then Piraat... now this. Awesome. dyetube (402), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 22, 2006 This beer pours a cloudy yellow with a large white head leaving lots of lacing down the sides. What can I say, For the money this is a great beer! Very smooth and tasty as a tripple should be. maybe not quite as strong as the other tripples, but doesn’t cost as much either! This is a well crafted beer! Cheers! wxman (585), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2006 Pours a cloudy yellow with a full white head that diminishes slowly. Aroma of yeast, cloves and some maltiness. Outstanding slightly sour citrus, coriander and spice flavor with a pleasant bitter mouthfeel after the swallow. This is a delicious great example of the style that comes in at 8% ABV and can still be purchased at $6.99 a six pack. Excellent all the way around. bindpmc (88), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2006 A very nice looking pour. Clear straw yellow with a generous white head. Lots of lacing. I’ve read in reviews of other beers people use the word "bread" to describe aromas, and with this beer I finally understand as bread came to mind on the first whiff. A touch of indeterminate spice in the nose as well. A strong banana flavor with no shortage of malt and yeasty tones accompanying. A bit fizzy going down, but not as much as I’ve had in other trippel styles. Some nice spiciness in the finish, but the very strong banana aftertaste lasts seemingly forever, and detracts slightly from an otherwise very good beer. tronraner (1909), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2006 Bottle. Pours bright gold with a thin white head. The aroma is nice and bready with some hints of zest and mango, maybe a little corriander. The flavor is slightly drier than I was expecting, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Some zest, violet petals, and saaz come out immediately. They give way to an earthy, slightly acidic finish. The aftertaste gets drier with every sip. Halfway down the glass I poured in the sediment. It actually smoothed the acidity in the finish and mellowed the dryness a bit. Not bad, but I wouldn’t mind it being a wee bit maltier. Naven (869), Poway, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 11, 2006 I gotta be honest, prior to this beer, I had not had a New Belgium beer that I liked.
But, alas, this stuff is good. Damn good. The best part is...I found it for $6.50 for a SIX pack.....at a vietnam grocery store to boot!
Wonderful color, and it has a nice aroma....the flavor is malty and sweet with that wonderful belgian yeast taste. Nice subtle alcohol burn at the end.
