Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

Appears a hazy gold with a lush white head that slowly fades into a small head. Scattered lacing was left around the glass. Smell is of typical Belgian yeast aroma, spices, with a mild corn syrup smell & some sugary sweetness. Taste is of sugary pils malt with some corn syrup, perhaps some Munich in there with a touch of yeastiness. Mouthfeel is quite full bodied and lively for a tripel. Tingly on the lips, hitting the center of the tongue, swee at first, with a chalky dougyness that lingers on the tongue. Edit: 11/9/06 Taste is better than originally reviewed. Similar to the original flavors but a sugary, citrusy, tropical, slight candy flavor, along with a touch of creamy vanilla. Old score was a 7. Smell is phenolic, sugary, mildly corny but in check for a trippel with some tropical fruit notes and apricots evident with vanilla. Old score was a 7. Mouthfeel is smooth with a yeastyness that carries some phenols along the palate. A light sugary burn up front. Drinkability overall is better than originally quoted at a 14.

(03.25.06) 12 oz brown bottle purchased from Liquidsolutions.biz. 7.8% ABV. Best before September 22, 2006. Clear golden yellow with average white head. Good lacing. Average carbonation. Spicy clove aroma. Medium-to-full bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and fruity/spicy clove flavors. Finishes dry with light malt and hop bitterness fade. Well-balanced and flavorful, this is an excellent Belgium ale.

Sampled at 4th Boulder Strong Ale Fest. the beer pours a hazy, medium yellow-amber color with a very small, nearly nonexistent head. The aroma is lightly malty with notes of husky toasted grain/dog food; hoppy with trace notes of herbs; trace notes of banana and a moderate note of cooked corn. The flavor is moderately sweet with an average-length, lightly bitter, tangy finish with an unclean aftertaste. The body was light, the texture was watery and the carbonation was lively.

Pours with a huge fluffy head. Bright gold in color. Very floral. Malty and bready, with an almost wheat-like character. Malty, smooth finish despite lots of carbonation. Great example of the style, but not quite my thing.

Bottle. Gold yellow pour, with a decent fluffy head. Spiced citrus and bready yeast aroma with some light malts. Spiced citrus flavors, with a little earthy hops and bready yeast. Clean finish. Very nice.

Bottle. Clear dark amber pour with a large frothy white head that lasted and has good lacing. Good citrus spice aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Full citrus and spice flavor with a moderate finish. Good complex brew.

OK Trippel. Pretty much what you imagine when you think of a Trippel, but nothing extraordinary. Exactly what you would expect but nothing more.

Bottle from a forgotten trader. Sorry! Godlen yellow body with a nice fluffy white head is crisp and clear, I might have thought it was a pilsener had I not known otherwise! (3+) Sweet yesty aroma with notes of grany malt and alcohol, traces of odd fruit. Sweet flavour is cereal malt with pleasant overtones of spice and mild fruit. (6+) Medium to full bodied palate is pleasantly smooth. Quite enjoyable but failed to knock my socks off.
