Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

If certain steps could be taken to improve my happiness, and that of doubtless others, I can assure you that one would be to get more of this fantastic brew around and about us, in unfailing supply! Appearance: a slightly hazy, bright golden hue, and a large, luscious creamy white head, that remains for a spell, then dwindles. Aroma: an explosion of fruit and spice, a gorgeous blend, a veritable fruit salad up in the nose! Tropical fruits, mango, banana, peach, apricot, citrus: yup, all that! A heavenly delight, swimming in sparkling sweetness! On the tongue, a burst, no a blizzard of hoppiness, a dervish dance on the tongue, flooding the senses! Excellent, generous texture. Rich, sweet malt, though never to the point of cloying. Candied, honeyed sweetness and spice abounds in this happy ale, and the flavor lasts and lasts, every portion of the experience compounding it’s overall effect. One of my favorite American beers. Now why doesn’t Trippel have the cult status of Fat Tire, that’s the next topic for the Armchair Philosophers Club...

Do not let the golden color of this beer fool you. Like most other Trippels, this brew drinks very easy and the color belies the alcohol content. Yeast, fruity esters, and a little bit of grass and hoppiness. The flavors are quite intriguing, malt and perhaps vanilla (did this beer see some oak?), citrus from hops, and a hint of spice. Quite a brew, and one of their best.

Shared this bottle thanks to ClarkVV with walleye, redmosquito, and a Kuhnhenn brother. Golden color with a white head that dissapated rather fast and left little lacing. A slight sour/vinegar aroma with some yeast esters as well. There were also some slight fruit smells that I couldn’t distinguish. A bitter sweet taste. Sugary tastes balanced out with some hoppy bitterness. There was also that yeasty taste in there. A bit of a sour finish. Not too bad.

2004 bottle. Pours a very mildly hazy, yellow, some very light orange tints. Small white head, fairly rapidly dissipating, with slight lacing. At first I thought this was just as filtered as their other beers, but then read that there is a yeast injection. Whatever, it’s still filtered. Aroma is light honeydew melon, lemons, sponge cake, mild belgian yeast, vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly yeasty and has a bit more citrus and hop bite to it than expected. But overall, it is still quite tame and mild. Little bit of thinning on the very end. Some esters, but they are very muted. Body is pretty smooth with a bit of alcohol giving it a fuzzy palate. Moderate carbonation, medium body. I enjoy trippels with more aggressive yeast and less filtration.

Light Amber color, eggshell head. Aroma is distinct and sour (not its best feature) flavor is cirus and brown sugar but clears form the palate very quickly. not the norm but a nice americanized beliian ale.

Nice hazy banana yellow color with a white head. Sweet aroma, a mix of fruity esters / spice from the yeast and sugary bread from the malt, no real hops to speak of. Sweet malty flavor smooths over the warming alcohol notes, there are some nice esters here, banana maybe. There is a nice balance between the bitterness and the body. A good tripel. Thanks ClarkVV
