COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

12 oz bottle poured into a regular glass. A: Pours a darker straw color with a large amount of clarity, surprising for a tripel. Lots of tiny bits of yeast float in the body, though. The head is a one finger offwhite color with nice enough retention. A solid amount of lacing is left on the glass. S: Quite spicy - there’s a lot of clove, coriander, and black pepper on the nose, with the candied sugar only having a small aromatic role, and the malt backbone being almost entirely neutral. T: Sweet to start, before the spice character helps to neutralize the sweetness somewhat. There’s a decent amount of coriander, black pepper, and cloves on the finish. A bit of a phenolic character also exists, one that thankfully doesn’t overwhelm the palate with plasticky flavors. In addition it becomes almost savory after a while, once the biscuity NB yeast profile kicks in. Not my favorite beer in the world, but quite good, I must say. M: Fairly light, with a nicely neutral finish. Reasonably well carbonated - not too harsh or too mild. Somewhat dry in general. O: A good tripel. It gets bonus points for being so easy to find in my area, and for being quite drinkable. All in all, one of NB’s better regulars.

bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Clear light amber with a 1" white head, curtain of lace. Aroma of hops and light malt. Taste is full-bodied malt that adds fruit and spice on the swallow, then opens the door for balancing hops. An untraditional Belgian - malt and spice and fruit, but also notable hops, even though they do yield again to the malt.

Bottle to glass, small white rapidly diminishing head with small floaters, that are to be expected from bottle condition.Light malt with banana and clove in the nose.Medium body, a little thin, good carbonation with a bitter finish that lasted. Not my style of choice but not a bad beer.

Golden with lots of bubbles, long lasting head, sweet funky belgian nose, sweet a little dry hint of hops, pleasant mouthfeel. Great Trippel, I just dislike this style.

12 oz bottle --> pint glass. 3+ fingers slinky head. Semi cloudy amber. Sugary baked apples on the nose. Dominant notes are equally sour and bitter, followed by subtle hints of white grapes. Not too boozy. Decent, it'll do in a pinch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottom line, up front...this is a good beer. It's just not a good trippel. From a bottle. An aroma of coriander with a hint of Belgian yeast. Taste is much the same with little remaining on the palate. At 7.8, this beer is not strong enough to be compared with some of the better trippels such as Golden Monkey. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Aroma: malty and slightly skunky, with hints of clove, bubblegum, and mango. Taste/Palate: sweet and crisp; finishes tart. Not bad!

Poured from a 12. Has a typical Belgium aroma to it. Flavor is creamy and almost bubble-gum or papaya taffy like. The coriander adds an interesting depth and slight tartness.

Crystal clear amber with a sudsy off-white 1.5 finger head that leaves a lot of lacing. Coriander and funky belgian yeast are very forward in the aroma, along with toffee and grains. Taste is honey, grassy hops, hint of funk, sweet malts and coriander. Medium bodied and has a spiciness on the tongue. Not bad tripel.

This is a great trippel! It’s awesome that a large brewery can put out a beer like this. Creamy head and a nice gold pour. Good balance. Just enough sweet and funk. A touch of coriander.
