Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

12 oz bottle poured into a regular glass. A: Pours a darker straw color with a large amount of clarity, surprising for a tripel. Lots of tiny bits of yeast float in the body, though. The head is a one finger offwhite color with nice enough retention. A solid amount of lacing is left on the glass. S: Quite spicy - there’s a lot of clove, coriander, and black pepper on the nose, with the candied sugar only having a small aromatic role, and the malt backbone being almost entirely neutral. T: Sweet to start, before the spice character helps to neutralize the sweetness somewhat. There’s a decent amount of coriander, black pepper, and cloves on the finish. A bit of a phenolic character also exists, one that thankfully doesn’t overwhelm the palate with plasticky flavors. In addition it becomes almost savory after a while, once the biscuity NB yeast profile kicks in. Not my favorite beer in the world, but quite good, I must say. M: Fairly light, with a nicely neutral finish. Reasonably well carbonated - not too harsh or too mild. Somewhat dry in general. O: A good tripel. It gets bonus points for being so easy to find in my area, and for being quite drinkable. All in all, one of NB’s better regulars.

Yeast and coriander on the nose. Fruity flavors and just a little too sweet for "old" belgium. But still awfully tasty. Peach, orange, a bit of peppery spice. I’d rate it a lot higher w/out the coriander.

Draft. Bright golden hue with perfect clarity and a large, fluffy head of pure white. The aroma blends banana, pear drop, pink peppercorns, clove, honey and a hint of vinegar. The flavor has all these, though in more subdued form and with added malt character -- crackers and honey. Body is medium-light; carbonation is moderate and fizzy. Not terribly complex, but passable.

Transparent gold with a negligibly sized white head. Unassuming aroma containing notes of honey, malt, spice, yeast, and caramel. The taste is significantly better. Interesting smooth and light body despite being a tripel. Flavours consist of malt, yeast, caramel, vanilla, and honey with a partially dry hopped and sweet finish. Certainly not a favourite, but a mid ranked tripel.

4 oz pour on draft at B Side. Clear golden orange with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, orange peel, herbs. Tastes of herbs, spice, light citrus. Medium body with a dry finish. Syrupy mouthfeel. Different from the traditional tripel but okay.

12 oz pour from bottle into a delirium tremens tulip glass. Pours gold, a little hazy, with good carbonation and a beautiful fluffy white head. Nose is citrusy. Full bodied and pretty creamy. Taste is definitively Belgian. Citrus up front gives way to a bitter and fruit body and a tart coriander finish. Very pleasant. A great Belgian-style beer for those wanting to stay fresh and local.

Light brownish body. Everything about it is that fake candi belgium taste and aroma. It’s probably a good example of an american version of a triple, but I’m just not a fan.
