Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

12 oz bottle poured into a regular glass. A: Pours a darker straw color with a large amount of clarity, surprising for a tripel. Lots of tiny bits of yeast float in the body, though. The head is a one finger offwhite color with nice enough retention. A solid amount of lacing is left on the glass. S: Quite spicy - there’s a lot of clove, coriander, and black pepper on the nose, with the candied sugar only having a small aromatic role, and the malt backbone being almost entirely neutral. T: Sweet to start, before the spice character helps to neutralize the sweetness somewhat. There’s a decent amount of coriander, black pepper, and cloves on the finish. A bit of a phenolic character also exists, one that thankfully doesn’t overwhelm the palate with plasticky flavors. In addition it becomes almost savory after a while, once the biscuity NB yeast profile kicks in. Not my favorite beer in the world, but quite good, I must say. M: Fairly light, with a nicely neutral finish. Reasonably well carbonated - not too harsh or too mild. Somewhat dry in general. O: A good tripel. It gets bonus points for being so easy to find in my area, and for being quite drinkable. All in all, one of NB’s better regulars.

12 oz pour from bottle into a delirium tremens tulip glass. Pours gold, a little hazy, with good carbonation and a beautiful fluffy white head. Nose is citrusy. Full bodied and pretty creamy. Taste is definitively Belgian. Citrus up front gives way to a bitter and fruit body and a tart coriander finish. Very pleasant. A great Belgian-style beer for those wanting to stay fresh and local.

Light brownish body. Everything about it is that fake candi belgium taste and aroma. It’s probably a good example of an american version of a triple, but I’m just not a fan.

I don’t know how "typical" this beer is but on an absolute basis I have to say I like it very much. Pours golden with a meager head. Slightly sweet aromas suggest this might be cloying on the palate but it isn’t. I find this a balanced, flavorful brew, certainly on the sweeter side of things beer-ish, and one that totally hides its alcohol.

5/3/14 from 12 oz bottle with enjoy by date of 1/31/15 so past its prime. Nice light gold color and one finger head. Not much aroma. Spicy malty flavor not to my taste. Maybe it's the coriander that I don't like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Golden with nice carbonation. Sweet nose. Hoppy and full mouth initially but smooth and balanced with just enough fruity flavor and coriander. F Avey---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Old rating. Grainy, some honey, that NB yeast, decently malty and caramel. Reasonably smooth. Decent six pack tripel though not up to Belgian master standards, I suppose.

Bottle - very big foamy head, dark gold color, yeasty spice aroma and flavor, maybe some mild coriander, mild fruit, fair malt backbone, very good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
