Malty flavor with hints of fruit and spice. Overall decent and enjoyable, but I thought Allagash Tripel reserve was more to style and a better beer. RCL (1498), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Difficult to explain the aroma, it’s got some power, but is mostly just grain and yeast. Flavor is mostly the same, with just a little fruit (apricot). I didn’t love it. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 8, 2003 Good, crisp, smooth, and clean with a good fruity kick. Nice brew. Color was a hazy deep yellow, almost orangey glow with a great frothy head that was an inch or so thick and lasted pretty much through the whole glass. Smells lightly of lemon, orange peels maybe or banana peel, good floral hop presence with a spicey note like pepper or clove. Taste was good with a good solid fruit and hop mix with lots of floral, spicey hops that fizz around in the mouth, lots of carbination. It reminded me of a Corona with a lime or lemon in it, but way more bolder and full bodied. Thats maybe a bad example but its all I can think of. Damn good and drinkable. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 13, 2008 12oz bottle, best by Jan ’09. Deep golden-orange, clear, with a small head, some lasting foam, some lace. The aroma has some green apple and grape with some doughy yeast, sweet honey, and subtle hop spice. Sweet, honeyish flavor, with a drying and slightly astringent mouthfeel. A little tangy, fruity character. Light hops in the finish that provide moderate bitterness. Drinkable, but lacking the boldness and character of a good tripel. Too filtered and toned down. I would never turn one down, and this does come in sixers for the same price as fat tire, but there are plenty of better tripels available. GreatLibations (1470), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2006 Escape from Alkatraz is all I could think of as I poured this brew into my official tasing goblet. The effers shot up from the bottom liquid to fill the remainder of the 18oz of space in the glass. It’s a 30oz goblet. After the froth subsided to half I sipped and found not a trace of carbonation left in the nectar. Oh well, the froth was a might tasty, kinda creamy. It poured a pale yellow with a huge frothy head. Aroma was tropical perfume and spice. Nectar weight was medium with a creamy texture. No residual effers, not one. Fruity flavors up front including beer candy, banana, sweet cream, and some mellow citrus. The finish is fruity also with no bittering at all. I was actually surprised how similar to a true Belgian it drank. Overall: Mellow, soft, and fruity. Well ballanced and alcohol is hidden. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2005 Hazy golden color with a snow white head of tiny bubbles. It’s your typical Belgian tripel aroma and flavor, flowery, yeasty, mildly phenolic, touch of alcohol. It might have been typical but it was put together well, it shows nice restraint. Creamy mouthfeel. Tasty! holdenn (1454), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". Pours orange with a small white head. Yeast, caramels, toffee and vanilla in the nose. Sweet flavors that aren’t overly so. Toffee caramel, bourbonish alcohol, balanced. Tasty and creamy. Finishes slightly dry. I like the balance of alcohol, sweet, and dry. Out of the 26 beers, this one places fourth overall for me. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2003 A golden orange color with a thick, full white head. The aroma is immensely intriguing as it is both sweet at tart. Floral, spicy, fruity and a little earthy. The alcohol is only just noticable. Crisp and sharp in the mouth, that softens as it goes down. The flavors are a little disappointing after the wonderful aroma. Musty and dry, but not much else. A good one, but not great.
