Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

Re-rate: Nov 5, 2003. Hazy golden body and soft sudsy head. Strong and pleasing esters. Bubble gum, bananas, green apples, and citrus. Nice yeasty complexity. Well-integrated bitter fruit peel and grassy hop finish. A very nice Belgian Trippel. Gained points with me as I gained experience and sampled repeatedly through time.

One of my favorites from NB and probably the best domestic Tripple. I have some being aged. Also watch for the Grand Cru which is brewed every 1000 batches of NB beer.

Cloudy golden pour with minimal head - musty aroma with touches of apples and pears - high carbonation is surprisingly soft on the palate - quite floral, but not what you would consider hoppy - spices, apples, vanilla - medium dry finish - very nice - thanks to Crosling for this one.

Hazy golden color with a thick white head. Bubblegum, clove, and a hint of vegetable in the aroma. Sweet yeasty bubblegum with a clove finish. Nice crisp palate.

Golden color, a little cloudy. The Belgian yeast and hops come through in the aroma. Slight citrus bite on the flavor. Very good beer. Cheers Mitch

Nice and yeasty in all aspects. Golden pale body, thin white head, esters all over the nose, spices and cloves as well. Light floral and citrus hop character. Alcohol and an effervescent palate followed by a rather dry, bitter finish with some dried barley notes on the finish. Great smooth malt character. Hell, its a trippel, which meand quality right off the bat, this brew fits the bill.

Mild spicy aroma, nice head. A bit tart and a little fruity with just the prefect hop bite at end. This a pleasant effort at a good Belgian beer and for the $6.50 a six pack it cost I will be making this one a habit

Re-rate 4/18/05 I still like this one, but it just seems like it had to have changed. Too sugary, less fruit, and simply not as compex. The last 2 6’ers I’ve bought, while good, are just not worthy of my original rate. I just love this one. Since I can’t afford the Chimay Tripel on a regular basis, this is a good (and FRESH) sub. Little less sugary than the Chimay; a good thing.
