Commercial Description:
Our Trippel Belgian Style Ale (pronounced triple) opens with a bold blast of hops that slowly gives way to the fruity esters implied by our Belgian yeast strain. The Three Graces hand-painted on the label are Zeus’s daughters Aglaia (splendor), Euphrosyne (mirth) and Thalia (good cheer). In the Belgian tradition of brewing singles, doubles and triples, Trippel is the strongest with the longest fermentation. Remarkably smooth and complex, our bottle-conditioned Trippel is spiced with a trace of coriander.

12 oz bottle-trade w/after4ever. Poured a beautiful golden color w/a moderate off white head. Wonderful classic Belgium aroma. Big, complex, spicey, sweet, fizzy, citrus flavor. Classic Belguim-I’ve had many Belgiums from Belgium which didn’t taste as Belgium, if you had it in a blind taste test you would never guess it was an American made beer. Long finish-this is a very good beer!! Thanks Tom!!!

Looks golden and beautiful in a trapist glass. The aroma leaves a little to be desired, but the taste is a complex balance of spicy, herbal, and mellow fruit notes. The alcohol content is hidden very well; hard to distinguish in taste but leaves a nice warm feeling in the throat. Plus it goes down relatively smooth. Overall, an excellent trippel that I could drink again and again.

Spicy banana and orange peel aroma. Yeasty, spicy finish with soft sweetness and a dry finish. A bit too much bitterness but overall very good. Orange-gold color. One of NB’s better beers.

Re-Rate 10/13/02: As with the NB Abbey I rated earlier, this beer is a little over 2 years old. The color, a foggy golden orange color, the head minimal, off white, the lace vaporous. The bouquet, ambosial, bubble gummy, hints of citrus, and even over ripe pineapple, and one ’Sniffable Beer’. The beer begins extremely sweet, the mouthfeel is light to medium, the finish is lightly carbonated, pleasingly dry, modestly hopped, and a touch of alcohol bitterness in the long lasting aftertaste. Once again a beer that is always present in my ’Beer Cellar’, and worth a try. Ranks #96 on my current 1000 beer master list.

Bright clear gold. Nice nose, sour and grassy, a bit minty. Spicy, clove, and fruit plus more mint in the flavor. Nice palate, sticky and a bit nectar-ish.
