Bottle 50 cl at Sweet & Sour, Sätila, 2014-08-30. Thanks to Magnus (non-ratebeer).
Clear balck currant juice look, no head. Looks fantastic! Coffee, alcohol scent, not in a good way. Coffee, black currants, wine, weird taste. Coffee and black currant aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.
Only ever tasted one other mead with coffee as I can recall, didn’t like that one either.

Bottle courtesy of Magnus (non-RB). Pours deep ruby red with a small fizzy bluish, pinkish white head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and fruity with honey, raspberries, dark roast coffee, pancakes, brown sugar and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet and fruity with honey, raspberries, bilberries, dark roast coffee, pancakes with whipped cream and bilberry jam, brown sugar and hints of lemon zest and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, tiny sparkling, fruity tart and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and fruity with raspberries, bilberries, honey, hay, dark roast coffee and hints of lemon zest and alcohol. for some reason this reminds me a lot of pancakes served with whipped cream, raspberry jam and of course a cup of dark roast coffee. I guess that’s the intent since that is a lovely breakfast.

Bottle at Sweet & Sour, Sätila, 2014-08-30. Purple color, no head. Coffee aroma, raspberries, honey, caramel, vanilla, some cocoa. Fruity honey flavor, coffee, caramel, warming alcohol, dark chocolate. Quite a focus on the coffee, not a favorite.

Pour during RBWG, Asheville. Amber color with a modest off-white head. Very strong roasted nut aroma. Nutella and Payday candy bars. Brown bread and toasted nuts. Medium roast coffee. Plenty of blueberry jam and cherry accents. Medium body, soft carbonation. Merely OK. Very unusual for a mead.

Dark purple pour. Aromas of coffee with raspberry and honey undertones. Very soft carbonation. Flavor is coffee and raspberries with a touch of honey. Not overly sweet and very easy to drink. Very respectable mead and a great concept behind it as well.

Bottle, purchased at Crown in Indy after visiting the meadery and finding them sold out of it. Deep indigo-violet, like liquid velvet. Aroma is quite vinous and juicy with coffee undertones. Blackberry fruit, raw and real, tempered by a honey sweetness and enriched by roasty black bean depths. A curious and wonderful brew that shatters boundaries of what mead can be. Awesome.

I got this on draught a year or so ago as a joke. Coffee and blueberry? No way. After I took a big whiff, I instantly knew that the was no laughing matter. Big coffee on the knows- hidden in there are dark blueberry and raspberry notes. The taste is much the same. Lighter body than the nose and viscosity lead you to believe. Easily on if my all time favorite things brewed on Indiana.

Huge waft of espresso as soon as the top flips. Appearance is inky purple with pinkish head. Taste is mostly espresso at first but some jammy berry flavors emerge as it warms. Pretty awesome and unique.
