I was pleasantly surprised by this entry. The dry finish was great for this palate. A good showcase for the quality local ingredients used in this mead.

Much more straightforward flavor than the other meads. Obviously dryer than the others and much less bold. I’m not a big mead drinker so I have little to compare this to.

Batch 08-1 (67 cases made, and hand-numbered, apparently). Pale straw color. Doggedly dry with a hint of honey and about as much paper. Smooth and flattish, but clean and very like a white wine. There’s some flavor striation here that detracts from the overall harmony we’re always looking for, but on the whole, OK.

much drier, lighter, and drinkable than any mead I’ve had. notes of apple, honey, almost like a white wine. light floral, grassy note. very clean. nice stuff. really lets the honey shine through. simple, yet elegant.

thedm (4116) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - AUG 30, 2009
This bottled mead from the meadery poured a head of large sized clear colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a transparent light yellow colored body. The aroma was sweet dry and cardboard. The smooth dry mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the harsh finish. The very mild sweet flavor was dry.

Batch #51 at New Day Meadery. Clear hue, sweet, spicy nose, honey, spicy, dry, clean flavor, tingly, dry mouthfeel and light-medium body. Just an okay Mead, nothing super special about it. Worthy of a try.

The tasting notes provided by the meadery provide a very accurate description of this mead:

Vintage: 2005 Batch number: 05-1 Cases Made: 91

5/20/2007: New Day Dry Mead has the color and transparency of spring water! The aroma is like white wine with a delicate spiciness to it. Subtle honey note can be found in the flavor. Clean and dry (not bone-dry though) finish.

Sampled at New Day Meadery in Elwood, Indiana.
