Pours hazy gold into a Sam glass. Bright white head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing to coat surface. Tropical fruit, caramel and resin aromas. Thick with sweet yeast and caramel upfront turning to biscuit before the lasting tropical fruit and citrus finish.

Can from Gianni! Thanks for these. Trying this side-by-side with the chardonneighbor of the beast. Hazy, golden honey in color with a small white head. Loads of honey, floral notes, apricot, candy sugar. Intense. Love it. Taste is fruity with more apricot and candy sugar, maybe a touch of honey, some pepper and cardamom. Not overly rich, nice full body, delicious. Best belgian style beer that comes from a can that Iíve ever had. Wow! Iím excited to see what the chardonneighbor is like.

12oz can shared with mattyb83. Pours nice light, straw colored orange with not much of a head. Aroma of hay, grains, candied sugar (think rock candy!), grass, and some sort of fruit(apricots). A lot going on in the aroma. Really intense. Light and clean for a golden, the only thing lacking in the body is some carbonation. Wish there was a little more. Flavors of honey, apricots, sugar in the raw, and bready yeast with just a hair of grass. A very well made beer!

Pours a copper gold with a thin head that clings to my kuhnhenn tulip. Aroma of Belgian yeast and pepper. Taste follows nose with too much sweetness. Nice silky mouthfeel. Not great but nice to try.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice golden body with nice frothy white head which faded to a thin coating. Some nice carbonation present. Aroma had strong bubblegum note, nice banana essence and some candied sugar. Malt base seemed the be biscuit malts? Flavor really had some interesting banana and bubblegum flavors. Some mild malt notes and a slight sweetness to it. There was a nice yeast quality to it and mild alcohol notes. A decent body, a little light on the tongue but c arbonation gave it some life and the sweetness gave it a slight stickiness. Nice.

What a good beer this is. Tastes similar to if an imperial wit and a saison had a baby. Spicy peppery and lightly lemony yeast with cracker type malts. Crisp and slightly sweet. Tasty.

A brand new arrival, and a very limited one at that, this is the 668 "The Neighbor of the Beast" from New England Brewing. Even though theyíre located just a short drive from here, we get very limited quantities of the 668, and therefore Iíve never been able to try it before. Tonight I thought it was a necessity, so Gunnar and I cracked a can to split.
The 668 comes in 12oz aluminum cans with no discernible canning date or alcohol level. The cardboard flat that the cans arrived on was dated March 28th, 2012, so this batch is pretty darn fresh. The brew pours a slightly hazy golden straw color, with a nice white foam. The main body of foam dissipates relatively quickly, but a thin film of carbonation is present throughout the duration.
The aromas on the 668 are lightly sweet and citrusy. The last brew I had from New England Brewing was the Ghandi Bot, and I totally wasnít prepared for this soft little guy today. A little bit of that typical íbelgian funkí is present in the background, but the citrus and spice is definitely the dominate force in the aromas.
On the palate the start is very nicely sweet, followed by some nice fruit esters, and finishes with a crisp dryness in the back of the palate. Thereís just a touch of hops clinging to the back of my tongue, but the overall impression is distinctly citrusy, fruity, and a touch sweet. A nice medium body makes the 668 both flavorful and quite drinkable.
All said and done, Iím quite impressed! This "Belgian Strong Pale Ale" is very balanced, smooth, and well-done. If this were available on a regular basis, it would be a staple in my own fridge. Great job guys!
