COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our flagship beer. The Atlantic is a medium bodied beer made in the uniquely American, steam styling of brewing. In “brew-guy speak” that means it’s brewed with lager yeasts at ale temperatures. Brewing a slightly sweeter, richer, caramel malt and two varieties of hops in this style makes for a truly unique flavor. Unique enough to make it an award winner at the 1993 Great American Beer Festival. You need this!

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 A: Dark red-copper body. Large off-white creamy head upon the initial pour. Crashed fairly quickly but left behind some fairly dense, but spotty lacing. S: Roasted malts, caramel, toffee, and a slighty nutty twang. T: Like the nose, this is a decent brew with a moderately complex presentation of caramel, toffee, roasted malts, and nuts. Not much in the way of hops or bitterness. I’d prefer a bit more hop presence to really draw out the flavors that are present here. M: Smooth, medium-light bodied. Clean throughout but an occasional lingering off-feeling. Perhaps its a bit astringent. O: All said, its a decent brew. Its got a bit going on, but can use some hops to really bring out all the beer has to offer

(Canned) Pours reddish amber with a white head. The aroma holds yeasty dough and bread with undertones of toasty, cookie-like and nutty malt alongside floral and tiny herbal hops. Hints of plums, oranges/citrus, light fruity esters and almond smelling glue. The flavour is light hop bitter with nutty malt. Toasty and light yeasty/doughy bread. The mouthfeel is creamy and round with a light crisp sting. Medium bodied.

Can. An old can at that, certainly a couple years on this as I sort of forgot it was in the cellar. Alas. Pours a hazy deep amber, possibly even a bit murky looking, with a thin to medium sized beige head. Sweet and big age signs, some funk and acid. Smells a bit like a young lambic. As an amber ale it smells horrible. But as something that’s supposed to be sour and funky, it actually smells rather good. Weird. Medium bodied, loads of paper and nastiness. Thick cardboard and old malt. Not so good. Bitter age on the finish, just plain undrinkable.

Can poured a clear amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel and light fruittiness. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a chalky finish. Flavors of carmel, light fruittiness and chalk with a smooth chalky finish.

Can: Pours a rusty orange color with a bit of haze. Small beige head fades away quickly. Simple aroma is floral and sweet. Light citrus and earthy bits. Very low hop impact in the taste, mostly an earthy and berry sweetness. Light citrus, but I want to say most of the sweetness comes from a juneberry or something related. Ever so slight florals in the finish. Different.

Can. Pours a murky amber body with a thin white head. Some light roasted malt, a bit metallic and a hint of nuts. Caramel notes, nuts, and a metallic slight bitter sweet finish. Very bland and below average, poor.

The beer pours dark reddish-amber with a white head. The aroma is not good, with a muddy, earthy malt. Smells almost like dirt. The flavor is very malty, earthy hops with some toffee. It also tastes a bit dirt like with some cooked vegetable notes. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation.

Can via trade that I honest to God found when I went to re-pack that box for another trade. It was cooler than finding a $20 bill. Pours a golden, brown colour with a small white head that lasts a good time. Aroma: sweet caramel malt, touch of acetic acid and ?charcoal at the end? Flavour: nice balance of malt and hops plus a distinct flavour that I can only attribute to a CA common.

A pretty reddish-amber beer. I happen to like big, sweet malt flavors, so I thought this beer was quite good. Smooth in taste and texture. Sweet, not cloying, but almost like cotton candy and caramel plus some roasted notes. Finishes a bit dry, but not all too hoppy.
