Named after New Havenís nickname: the Elm City (but not to be confused with Elm City Connecticut Ale!) It is a true German Pilsner: crisp, refreshing, pronounced. Perfectly balanced pilsner malt made with all German ingredients and Hallertaur hops. It is a perfect compliment to a hot summerís day! Itís definitely not your grandfatherís beer, but itís what your grandfatherís beer was trying to be. A must have!!

Grainy/grassy aroma with a hint of citrus, surprisingly complex for a lager. Flavor almost has a hint of lemon grass.

12 oz can. Smells like corn being pressed on to steel. Wow... much better than the nose leads me to believe. Quite rich and malty. What a surprise! Nice balance of hops and malt. Slightly sweet on the palate with lingering hints of corn. Nice short smooth finish. Quite a surprise.

I know this sounds weird but a pleasant farm smell, corn with hints of manure. Hazy golden color. Better taste than most lagers, lest yeast than your average. Iím still not a fan of lagers but this is pretty good.

Poured from the can into an imperial pint. Clear golden pour with a big creamy white pile of head. Strong corn aroma makes me hesitant. Smells like a stronger version of a macro. Flavor is quite a bit better than I expected after smelling it for a while. The flavor is sweet with some lingering corn. Not offensive at all. Pretty easy to drink. Donít know if I would call this a pilsener though.

Clear golden, large but rapidly dimishing head with blah lacing and retention. Aroma is bread, light grass and also corn. Light body and very drinkable. Lightly sweet finish, but how is this a pils if corn is here? Yes, itís better than Miller but who cares?

Can (12oz). Bubbly gold with a large fizzy/fluffy off-white head. Pretty standard sweet grainy malt, light floral hop aroma. The taste is fresh, with maybe a hint of rye grain, bitter grassy finish. Average to slightly chewy body, somewhat teeth-sqeakingly astringent, solid carbonation, no aftertaste - a solid patio/lawnmower beer, nothing special though.

pours a foamy white head and slightly hazy gold/yellow color. Aroma is grain, light (saaz?) hops. Taste is light malt, light (saaz?) hops. Light body, but not thin. Good carbonation.

(can - 12 oz) Clear gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma is bitter hops, some metal flake, grains, grass, and corn. Flavor begins with a dry hop and grass taste with a grainy and corny middle and a very dry and bitter hop finish. Very thin bodied and easy to drink. Tastes like many other pilseners Iíve had.

Pours a clear gold-tinged yellow with a nice foamy head. This is exactly what Iíd anticipate a pilsener to look like, but I canít give this more than a three looking so thin. The nose is a big improvement. Iím struck first by the floral hops and second by the light dry bready malt. In This mouth, this is on the fizzy side of creamy with a lack of body, as per the style. The flavors are a little off, but largely clean. Bready, slightly toasty malt character, dry and well matched by a liberal floral hop. A little spicy, the finish is this and a bit sweet, but the aftertaste is all dry hop bitterness with some grain bitterness. I could kick back a six pack of this stuff in the right setting. A nice session in deed lacking any hint of adjunct. Bonus for the can factor.

A pale light yellow in color with a bubbly white head. It has a malty aroma with sugar and general sweetness. The hops come out more in the flavor which is slightly fruity and bitter, and simple. It is drinkable and refreshing- without the nice aroma though Iím not sure Iíd be a big fan. .
