NEBCO continues to improve the quality of what they produce and are becoming one of the best breweries in new england. Really nice quad with lots of rich dark fruits and spicy yeast quality. A bit sweet at first but finishes dry. no booze at all.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A curios looking little bottle stared out at me from the shelf at Redstone today and I couldn’t help but bring the little fellow home with me. Pours a deep brown with beautiful garnet highlights when held to light and a decent off white head that quickly dissipates to a cap on top. Well she’s got all the right aromas. Dark fruits, dark sugars, a hint of chocolate and lots of caramel tell me this is a quad. The flavor is sweet and fruity up front with a bit of oxidation creeping in. Burnt sugars and caramel mix with a bit of chocolate and ash into the finish. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet burnt sugary mouthfeel. This is a decent enough beer, but frankly nothing special. For the style the carbonation is too low, the body feels a little thin and it leans heavy towards the molasses and burnt sugar end when I would have like to have seen some more raisin, prune, plum flavors. Technically there is nothing wrong with this beer and I wouldn’t hesitate to drink it again, but at $9 for 500ml I wouldn’t seek it out either.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy red-brown with basically no head. Aroma is malty and yeasty and bread-like, sugary with caramel and indeed toffee. Medium full body, a bit syrupy as it warms, alcohol hanging around just a little in the background. Sweet flavors at first, caramel and yeast, pleasant dry although not particularly hoppy finish mixed with some dried and slightly sour cherry. Very good.
