3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A cloudy orange-amber hue with a white head that had good retention. Aroma had a good caramel malt profile, crazy hop notes of citrus, pine and a floral quality. Flavor was sweet enough to give the hops some balance and hoppy enough to be assertive. Finish was slightly dry.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
16 oz. can via local trade. Looks like the label is a vinyl sticker on a plain can. Pours a cloudy amber-orange color with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel and pale malts, grassy hops, pine, earth, mild spice and floral notes, and some crackers. Flavor of floral hops, caramel malts, grapefruit, pine resin, orange peel, herbal zest, and nectar. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a bitter, citrusy mouthfeel. Fruity and bitter. Not a bad DIPA, given that the guy who gave it to me said it was a little old.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 3, 2011 Hazy, straw. Grapefruit, citrus, resin hops on the nose. Very hoppy aromatically and on the palate, but bittering is fairly moderate. Malt is subtle but sufficient. Any hoppier and this might cross over into metallic-tasting territory, but as it stands this is a really solid beer.
From sample pour at local December 2010 tasting.
From 12oz can, 3/3/2011
Pours brassy orange, medium head. Intense hop aroma with some caramel in there for good measure. Very ’bright’, green hops, bordering on metallic. Hints of tea and cat pee. Not nearly as bitter as the aroma would suggest, moderately bitter overall. Good sweet maltiness stands up to the bittering nicely. Lots of pine, citrus, and floral hop notes throughout the palate. Really drinkable despite the hoppiness. Really good. Dinging it 1 point on aroma this time around.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to woosterbill for sharing a growler of this at DLD and sending me off with some cans for further enjoyment.
A: Pours a deep apricot with a nice fluffy white head and a good amoutn of lacing down the glass.
S: Loads of fresh hops, mostly of pine and earth. Some floral notes as well; at times almost like a fresh-hopped ale. A bit of bready malt in the background, but hardly discernable behind the hops.
T: Loads of fresh pine and floral hops. Definitely quite bitter. A bit of orange pith comes through as well, with a zesty bitterness.
M: Very nice and dry with excellent carbonation.
D: One of the better DIPA’s I’ve had in a while, and definitely another nice surprise out of New England. Keep ’em coming.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz can courtesy of woosterbill. Pours a hazy orange with an inch tall white head with good retention and strong lacing. Aroma is wonderful with citrus and grapefruit hops, a little pine, and a bit of orange peel. Initial taste is pine hops going into some citrus hops. Finish is a bit earthy and malty. Taste isn’t quite as good as the aroma. Light bodied. Medium carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can split with mtjoseph. I got the bottom half and the pour is murkier than i expected. Murky orange dreamsicle color on this. Good amount of pine in the aroma with a little bit of citrus present too. Strong bitter flavor of grapefruits that lingers throughout. Bitterness overpowers everything else in this beer for me, and it lacks malt sweetness that could make this a really good beer.
