10/11/2013. On tap at Willi Brew in CT. A solid porter with dark fruit, sweet malt and chocolate aromas. Good balance and finishes a little sweet.

Pours dark unclear chestnut roasted brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma and flavor bring pure rich toasted malt flavor, a bit nutty. The body is so rich and a bit creamy for the lower ABV making it a delightful treat.

I had a growlette of this filled at NEBCO. The color is dark brown with a short light tan head. Its aroma has coffee, light roasted malts, some brown sugar. The taste demonstrates similar qualities of the aroma, it is sweet, but in a low-key way. The body is medium, finishes with a faint bitterness. A great porter from the crew at NEBCO. It drinks easily and the 32ozer is easy take solo.

Sampled at Willibrew. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, light smoke and chocolate and coffee, and a little hops. Flavor the same with a dry finish. Average texture. A good porter.

Draft at the Gingerman. Pour had a dark brown color with a thick light brown head. Aroma has roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and light hops. Mouth feel is a solid medium with a nice lactose texture. Flavor really busts out the malts, medium roast level, bitter chocolate, coffee beans, and again the lactose. Really a solid beer and with a touch of oats this woukd kick ass.

Draught at Plan B. Pours dark brown with a thin light brown head. Smells of roasted malt, coffee, ash, some licorice. Tastes sweet and spicy with some grainy undertones and a bitter licorice finish. Enjoyable.

NEBCO continues to roll out great offerings. I used to stay away from these guys and I dont know why. I was missing out on some great beer right here in CT. Really flavorful lactose, chocolate, coffee porter with a smooth nice finish.

Pour into a pint glass from a 32 oz growler. From the second batch, obviously. A - Pitch black with a dense and lasting creamy khaki head. Only when held up to the light does the very edges of the glass let some light shine through to show a dark brown body. Somewhat sticky lacing and retention. Looks damn near perfect to me. S - Really strong roasted coffee beans. A bit of sweet milk chocolate and caramel malt on the finish, but this beer is all about the bitter and roasty coffee notes. T - Roasted coffee beans, milk chocolate, and a subtle touch of toffee and dark fruits. The bitterness does catch up to it towards the end making it less drinkable. Mouth feel is a bit on the thin side but the body is still creamy and silky. Carbonation is also very light. After an hour long car drive and a short ten minute chill in the fridge the growler opened with only the faintest of hisses. O - A very solid and well made porter. Perhaps its because its so fresh, but the roasted coffee element is super intense and enjoyable. Could probably use a bit more carb, but still a winner.
