3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In short: A straightforward moderately bourbonny imperial stout.
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed when approximately 8 months of age (8 months after first rating) . Bottle sent to me by rgtravers, thanks a lot Ryan.
The look: Black body topped by an initially large tan head with low retention
In long: First of all the gold-wax was a bitch to remove. Now on to the beer. Nose is moderately bourbony, some chocolate cake and some vanilla extract. Taste has burnt malts, Nutella™, milk chocolate, some bourbon barrels. The beer tasted very roasted for a Bourbon Barrel aged impy stout. Usually the BA impy stouts lose their roastiness and dryness but not this one. This is nice but what this beer lacked was complexity Carbonation of my bottle was excessive and prevented any subtle flavors from reaching my taste buds. Very rare but worth hunting down in my opinion. Overall, this was a nice imperial stout but there was nothing special about it. The only thing really noteworthy about this beer is how hard it was to open with extra- thick gold waxed top. I pulled a muscle opening this beer. Ok, I’m probably out of shape but I haven’t found a gym with an bottle opening exercises machine.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
12oz. bottle labeled New England Bourbon Aged Imperial Stout. Aroma is toffee, chocolate, bourbon, creme egg, and mochachino. Pours deep brown black with a swirly thick brown head. The head lingers in a beautiful way. Taste is damn near perfect. Milk chocolate, toffee, bourbon, roast coffee, dark fruits, and brown sugar. Everything is balanced with a great sweet chocolate candy taste balancing out a roasted stout. I am very impressed with this one and will be seeking it out again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark unclear, blackish with a small beige ring head. The aroma brings toffee malts and a tad of smoke. The flavor brings rich, dark chocolate roasted malt flavor with some brown sugar from the barrels blended so well. There is no alcohol bite and it is a medium to thicker body, so satiating.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
375ml bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of bourbon, roasted malts, a good amount chocolate, a little coffee and a little dark fruit, and some dough. Flavor the same. Smooth to thick texture. A really good beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Really nice beer here it reminds me of a chocolate covered caramel. Really rich and flavorful with tons of caramel and some nice toastyness. I wouldnt say its roasty or has much dark fruit flavor but its very much a sweet flavorful treat. Great stuff.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This one poured a darker brown color with a beiege head. Not sure why this has such low rating for a BA Impy. It was one of the msot well rounded ones i;ve had in a while. Anyways, aroma was of fudge, smoke, and bourbon. Flavor was a tad on the sweet side, but not diabetic levels by any means, fudge and smoke in the forfront, followed by a big bourbony oaky dark fruit finish. Very nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at the best western RB/BA tasting in Vermont. Poured deep brown with light to medium coffee. Heavy roasty tobacco, fudge, and bourbon barrel dominate the nose. Flavor was similar with light notes of fruit mixed in with the wood and bourbon. Good stout but regular is far superior.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Small bottle. It is bout the same level as the original, unfortunately throwing it in the barrel didn’t create magic.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A pour of I believe the last release at a tasting. Back with a brown head. Nose is lots of barrel, bourbon, vanilla. Taste is big bourbon barrel, dark chocolate. Smooth but fairly thin-medium mouthfeel.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2009 rating from 2010 - Almost opaque black/brown with a tan head...some lacing. Sweet roast smell, some wood flavors. Taste is Smoky and ashy with lingering dry smoke on the aftertaste. Medium/full body with active carbonation. Not bad but unfortunately not as good as regular Stout Trooper.
