blklab2007 (537), Connecticut, USA Sep 9, 2007 bottle poured a dark black in color with a thick tan head and slight carbination. smell is dark chocolate, roasted malts, brown sugar sweetness, and slight caramel. taste is heavy on the malts, chocolate, somewhat creamy, and has a bitter coffee finish. don’t know for the price of this bottle if it is that fantastic, great beer just a bit pricey.
The_Epeeist (937), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a dense tan head. Nose shows layers of dark chocolate and cocoa with some molasses and coffee. Thick and sweet; how i generally prefer my stouts. Smooth, with a touch of carb to lighten. Taste is caramel, mocha and prune. Dry finish with bits of licorice and grapefruit. Very tasty. JMFG (1140), Florida, USA Sep 1, 2008 Courtesy growler. Dark brown pour, light tan head. Nutty roast aroma, some lactose, light alcohol. Alcohol more apparent on the taste, light roast background. Decent, but not great. Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2008 OIly black body. Chewy, toffeeish aroma with slight cherry. Very syrupy body, very sweet with light smoke. Simplistic but has some appeal. durhambeer (411), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 21, 2008 Ha, I wonder how many beer geeks are also Star Wars Geeks; in other words, I wonder how many extra points this beer has gotten for its cool label? The thing is, it’s actually a pretty damn good beer. Dark pour with thin tan head. Very roasty, even bacon-y. All the other expected flavors as well-- roasty espresso, some chocolate, some chicory. Bitter and smoky. Meaty. Is that beef jerky I taste??? Thanks to JCB for sharing. mcbackus (640), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 bottle courtsey Growler: pours pitch black slight esspreso brown head. aroma is full of roasted malt and chocolate decent sweet malt behind that a tang of fruit. flavour is nice smooth bitter chocolate and plenty of coffee, the finish is bitter and slight malt.
