Odyn (148), New York, USA Jun 13, 2008 Updated: Aug 3, 2008 This one is done by memory. It was a few years ago and this one was my favorite at a collegiate watering hole. It had a sweet malty aroma with a nice roasty taste. Poured a rich dark brown. My favorite part was the almost burnt flavor it left on the palate. It lingered a little but made just accentuated the total experience. I will miss it.
argo0 (6233), Washington DC, USA Dec 31, 2002 Clear mahogany with tan head that dissipates fairly quickly to nothing. Aroma is faint, but what there is is sweet and roasty. Taste is faintly roasty and malty, but there’s not much to it. Finishes malty roasty, with hardly any bitterness. The lack of flavor could have to do with the "Best by" date of February -- was if ’02 or ’03? UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA Oct 22, 2002 Pretty good stuff. It ages well. The bottle I had must have been a couple years old, and the age lent a pleasantly smooth texture that I wasn’t expecting. eer is black, showing through light blood red. Roasty, malty, and quite dry, the Ted Koppel of beers, but only if that’s meant in a good way.....somehow. omhper (10731), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 25, 2002 Transparently black. Fatty, very grainy and rather thin. Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Jul 16, 2001 Updated: Oct 13, 2003The beer pours a deep brown to black color, the head average in size, creamy in texture and the color a winsome light chocolate, with the reaming lace a sticky sheet to meld with the glass. Sweet aroma of toasted grain, hints of caramel, and a fresh pleasing nut like quality also noticed, start sweet and rich, top full. Finish is mildly carbonated, pleasantly spiced by the hops and a bittersweet chocolate dry aftertaste, a quite decent middle of the road stout.
