3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle… Clear golden pour with dirty orange highlights and a small, fat-bubbled, white head. Decent retention. The aroma is a marriage of caramel and earthy hops. Full-bodied and fatty with mild carbonation. The flavor emulates the nose while presenting a nice balance between bitter and sweet. Lengthy, moderately sweet finish. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

Bottle. The pour is a ruby red/copper color. The aroma is typical barleywine. The taste is just an average barleywine. Not impressed.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is murky brown with red hues and tan head with large bubbles. Nose has rich dark malt up front with a light grain immediately behind. A bit of root beer and a touch seltzery in back. Taste has a lot of the rich malt up front, caramel and chocolate, a bit sugary and burnt sugar, a note of root beer behind, not as thin as I thought through the finish. Well carbonated and full body, a bit grainy on the palate.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a hazy brown copper color with two fingers of fizzy eggshell foam. the nose is syrupy sweet with traces of earthy compost and cardboard, a touch of artificial sweetness in the depths too.. not bad just a touch weird. The palate follows with some big chewy caramel notes, traces of fig and dark fruit but there is a slight offness, be it cardboard or metallic I can’t quite pin point it but its there and keeping me from enjoying this beer to its full potential. Not bad overall just not something i would seek out again !

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Moderate aromas of cereal and caramel for the malt, cooked orange for the hops, sweat and musty for the yeast, with butterscotch and alcohol in the background. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is full, oily/creamy with a a carbonation between soft and lively and has a moderately alcoholic finish. A little stanky up front, but taste-wise it’s quite yummy.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2013 750 ml bottle. Pour is dark rust, unfiltered and murky, with a thin beige head and some sticky lacing. Aroma is caramel, fig, raisins, molasses, booze and hops. Taste is a bit sweet but not overbearing, balanced by a spicy hop profile. Definitely has some good dark fruit notes and caramel. Perhaps some fig, cherry maybe a bit of honey. The texture is great, syrupy and chewy like a classic barley wine or stout. Nice warm booze kick on the back end. May pick up another one for the cellar seems like it would benefit from aging but drinks pretty well fresh. Like this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Manchester W&L. Poured into a tulip glass. A deep ruby black color with frothy medium tan head. Aroma of alcohol and roasty malts. I let this one warm a long time. Flavor is smooth and silky. Lots of roasty chocolate and coffee notes. Medium bitterness. Some alcohol burn on the backside. Not bad at all.
