glennmastrange (810), hobe sound, Florida, USA Mar 27, 2008 Can. Moderate aromas of roasted and caramel for the malts, flowers, pine and orange for the hops, broth for the yeast, with a note of toffee and a faint hint of dried fruit. The head was the most impressive thing about this beer. It was huge to start, rocky, off-white, with thick lacing coating about 90% of the glass and was fully lasting. Color was hazy orange/tan. Flavor was moderately sweet to start, then finished moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Palate was medium, creamy and had a soft carbonation. Good, but a little too sweet, and without almost any acidity kept me from saying this was a very good IPA. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 22, 2008 A can drank at Redlight in Orlando: Coppery hue with a small head and minimal lace. The aroma has notes diacetyl, wet grains, herbal hop, apricot, pear and a medicinal band-aid note. The taste is biting but short with a grainy overtone and some sweetness. Additionally it is fruity and mineral highlighted. The mouth feel is medium-bodied, soft and metallic. BLAH, barely drinkable, flawed big time. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Mar 18, 2008 Can pours a hazy amber with a thick two finger off-white head. Doesn’t smell like your typical IPA. This aroma is more sweet and malty with only a subtle hint of hops. Similar flavor as well where it doesn’t seem to fit into the category of an IPA from a hoppiness and bitter standpoint. Good overall flavor though. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Mar 18, 2008 This beer falls into that "good beer in a can" realm that unfortunately, too few beers can lay claim to. I’d received this can in a trade a few months back, and have kept it in the fridge since. Brewing up a stout when we cracked it open, so no better time to drink.
The aroma had a nice arrary of sweet malt, pine and citrus hops. Nothing overpowered the other, but perhaps the hop profile could have been a bit stronger but still, so far so good. Appearance is on the dark side of the spectrum for IPA’s, with a solid dark copper color, an off-white/light tan head with some large bubbles. Flavors again showed the same balance as the aroma...malts, citrus/pine hops but a nice suprise in an earthy quality I found lurking underneath. Not sure where that came from but it was welcome for sure. Very enjoyable beer. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 10, 2008 Pour is orange/copper with a big white head. Aroma is grassy and very malty. A slight whiff of hop. Flavor is full and more malty than most american IPA. Creamy and smooth. Good drinker. dkachur (2319), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Mar 10, 2008 12 oz can from jjpm74. Thanks John! Make sure your glass is very close by when you open this one! Voluminous frothy head and cloudy deep orange color. Hop aroma is balanced by a cotton candy sweetness. Hops are muted. They taste nice, but quickly fade into the background. Very bitter, metallic aftertaste. JJClark (545), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Mar 3, 2008 12 oz can. Pours a nice copper color with a medium white head. Aroma of hops, malt and citrus. Taste of caramel, pairs, hops and malt. Easy to drink with a light clean hop finish. kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 20, 2008 12 oz can, via trade. Pours a clear dark copper under a foamy one finger beige head that slowly receded. Lots of sticky lacing remained. The nose is moderately hoppy with some unusual notes of fruit stripes gum and Bartlett pears in heavy syrup. Light caramel maltiness as well. The flavor is just lightly hoppy with floral leafy hops over a slightly sweet toasted and grainy malt base. Mouthfeel is light bodied with nice soft, almost creamy, texture. Pleasant soft carbonation. Overall, this was drinkable, but lacking in brightness and crispness.
