DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Aug 28, 2007 Zippy hops nose, orange hue, pours a small custard head. Good bitter taste, nice malt backbone. Medium bodied, balanced. Very good. Thanks mds. TrevorFloyd (309), Connecticut, USA Aug 26, 2007 A nice deep colored and flavored IPA, heavier on the malt than many of its style. The prominent sweetness helps balance the hops. Personally, I like my IPAs with more bite than this, but it’s good nonetheless. tagz (334), USA Aug 19, 2007 can. pours deep orange with sizable tan head. caramel and malt mixed with a unique tasting hop made for a distinct bitter sweet chocolate flavor. crazy. haven’t tasted anything like it. the strange flavor makes me think its not something i would grab on a regular basis, but its definitely worth seeking out to sample. very interesting. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 15, 2007 Clear amber. Small, spongey, tan head. Mild aroma of resinous hops and caramel cookie malt. More impact in the flavor- resin, pine, grapefruit, earth, lightly sweet caramel cookies. Dra and grassy on the finish. Medium/full body, balanced carbonation, a bit weighty for an IPA, although the can could be toying with my perception. Decent IPA. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 14, 2007 Can brought back by sliffy. Translucent orange pour with a very light tan head...nice retention which turns to a bubbly film after a period of time. Aroma of caramel, tinges of lemon/lemon zest, mild grapefruit and slight elements of grass...a bit of toasted malt as well. The flavor is of toasty caramel malt, grassy hops with some light fruit elements and citrusy bitterness as well. Medium bodied, toasty and super malty in the front with a subtle bitterness that gains strength and forms a nice balance with the malt characteristic for a very satisfying finish. A nice malty English style IPA...I can’t imagine a better brew for the upcoming fall months. Beerlando (2286), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2007 Updated: Oct 11, 2007Re-rate October 2007. This is available in Florida now and I’ve had several fresh cans since my original rating. I’m finiding consistent, displeasing, wet grainy flavors throughout that detract from the positive characteristics in this brew. This appears to be the strange "off" flavor that I detected the first time around.
Original rate August 2007: 6/4/6/3/15 = 3.4 Courtesy boboski. Semi-cloudy, dark amber body. Large, spongy white head that leaves behind a thick lacing. The aroma shows a decent balance of big caramel malts and piney, resinous hops. It was a bit metallic, however. The flavor is similar, but it falls a bit flat. I can’t pinpoint exactly what is off, but the resinous hops just don’t meld well with the maltiness, in my opinion. Its still very good, but I think the metallic element interferes with what would normally be a successful flavor profile. Medium body that goes down pretty smooth. Picked up some flowers on the finish. Decent brew, but Oskar Blues still dominates the canned IPA category for me. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 11, 2007 Can sent to me via mystery swap 2.0. Thanks! Pours dark amber in color with a light tan head. Smell is a little bit of a caramel and toffee fragrance, with a hint of a citrus background. Taste is a bit more on the piney, earthy side than the smell leads on. I also notice a hint of a lemon zest flavor coming through in the background. As the commercial description says, this satisfies me, a hop head, but I think it would be a good beer for a newby or wannabe hop head. A decent beer, in a can. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Aug 5, 2007 Can. Amber colour with a nice head. Nice light hoppy aroma with a touch of caramel. Also flavour of caramel and some hops. Nice and bitter. A loverly IPA.
