Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a hazy copper color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Bottle… Murky caramel-colored ale with burnt orange highlights and a small, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is a rich, hearty swirl of caramel, wood, whiskey and light smoke. Medium to full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and ticklish carbonation. The flavor is sweet, caramely, nutty, lightly woody and bourbony – smooth; no edges. The finish is sweet-brown sugar and mildly warming. Thanks to Cletus for providing the bottle!

Bottle( thanks to Rian!): Cloudy, amber coloured, small persistent off-white head, sweet caramelly-vinous nose, vanilla and wood undereneath; sweet flavour, full bodied; alcohol-burn and wood in the the sweet fruity and caramelly finish. Srong and sweet, but still likeable…

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2009 I wanted to give this another shot, so I tried it on tap at the Ginger Man. Deep amber-orange beer. Light malty aroma, sweet orange and a soft caramelly decocted sweetness. There is a light vanilla and dried stewed fruit character as well. A bit of honey. Sticky sweetness, but it isn’t cloying, just rich and inviting. Nice chewy malt character with lingering earthy hops and a sweet finish. Some chewy honeyed malts. Pretty solid and much better than the first go-round. Cask at Manhattan Cask Festival. Amber beer, no head. Aroma is quite sweet, chewy and lightly sweet with a bit of brown sugary sweetness. Orange peel and a bit of black peppery booziness. Fairly fruity character with a bit of earthiness and caramelly sweetness. It tastes more like a pale barleywine than anything else to me. Chewy and sweet and strangely lagerish. It’s a very strange brew. 6 2 6 2 12

Bottle poured a clear amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, toffee, vinous notes, oak and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, carmel, sherry and light oak with a smooth toffee finish.
