Usually dont dig barrel aged IPAs but i enjoyed this. The barrel character was spicy and oaky without much in the way of tequilla. The base beer is evident and spicy floral hops are still strong. The dry hopping thoughout the barrel aging kept this beer fresh and tasty with no oxidation or off flavors that I come to expect from BA Pale ales.

Bottle, thanks Paul. 794/1000 Has a light tequila flavor with a touch of lime and hoppy citrus. Pairs amazingly with chips and guac. Better than I expected.

Pours a hazy golden sienna color with two fingers of white fizzy foam. Lots of strange yet interesting things going on here. Earthy, dusty citrus, wet wood, dank wood sap, soft compost, lime peel and lots of straw and musty hay. Unique.

Bottle (thanks to goodbyeohio for sharing this on his birthday)... Poured amber with a moderate head. Aroma of bitter hops with tequila-like alcohol. Seemed polarizing within our group, but I enjoyed this one. The bitterness and booziness with barrel characters seemed to work well for me here. Resinous hops, light fruits, and cirtus-like hops we still showcased even with the underlining tequila character going on.

Bottle. Dark yellow, slightly cloudy pour with a thick frothy off white head. Aroma of piney hops, oak and sweet agave. Medium bodied with a sticky alcohol finish that snaps.

500ml bottle (2014 release - bottle 773/1000) in a tasting glass. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of citrusy and piney and floral hops, some oak and tequila, pale and caramel hops, with some hints of alcohol and some dough. Flavor the same with a nice blend of the base beer and tequila barrels. Average texture. A cool interpretation of the base beer.

Pour thanks to stakem at voodoo barrel release. Tequila barrel noted. Not for me.

Draft sample at EBF. Lightly fruity pale ale character with slight hints of oak, agave. A curious stylistic decision, but fits the bill of Extreme in my book.

Bottle #463/713

1/05/2011: New England Zapata Bot... Aroma: Lemon-lime citrus peel; tequila? Appearance: Hazy golden color; average carbonation with some fine sediment; frothy, fading white head. Flavor: Interesting combination of citrus and faint malts; spicy (peppery) hops; dry tequila in the finish as well as some alcohol. Palate: Medium-light; smooth; average mouthfeel. Overall: I didn’t realize that this beer actually WAS aged in a tequila barrel prior to smelling and tasting it, but it definitely comes through! My first tequila barrel beer... Beer + tequila = weird combination, but it is starting growing on me... eh, not really!

500 ml bottle shared by alexsdad06. Thanks Brad! Rating #33 for this beer.
