Tap at the brewery. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is earthy and spicy coffee, roast and chocolate malt, prunes and figs, earthy hops, and light licorice notes. Flavor is dark malt dominant, earthy coffee, dark fruits, medium hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

From a bottle. Thick and velvety mouthfeel, thin tan head, rich bitter flavours of coffee and chocolate. Great stuff.

Bottled. Oily black with a thick mocha head lacing the glass. Really outstanding appearance. Very nice rich espresso and chocolate aroma, with a hint of dark cherry and pancake batter. Flavor is moderately sweet that begins with vanilla and cacao bitterness. Moves quickly into bitter dark roast coffee. Got a slight bit of metal/tin in the finish with acidity. Medium bodied. Overall really impressive. Ive only tried a few of their beers... this makes me a fan. Looking forward to trying more from their quiver.

Bottle and served in snifter: near opaque with a lasting frothy beige head. Lots of coffee and dark chocolate with minimal char or bready notes. Resiny hops with just a hint of citrus. Really this more akin towards an Imperial Dry Stout with the silky but thin mouthfeel and lack of richness. Does hide the alcohol very well. Nice enough (loved the coffee aspect) but not something I would buy again.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Hard roasted malts, big roasted coffee notes, lighter sweetness hintsing at chocolate, and hints of burnt malt. Good, not great.

5300! Nice bitter combo of dark Belgian cocoa and coffee. Some hops and roasted malt in the background, but thats really not the point with this one. Medium bodied and smooth even though well carbonated. Seems like 7%, not 9+."
