Had this once and rated it at 3.75 on Untappd, but this will be my first time reviewing it. Excited to have another good beer from New English.
Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki tan, frothy head. Average amount of uneven, spotty lacing on the sides of the glass. Above average-to-good retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled deep, dark, roasted coffee malts, dark chocolate, smoky fire, dry, dark cocoa nibs and some ashtray. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste followed the nose nicely. Basically all coffee, which I always love in beer but somehow have never tried (save a half a cup one time of an espresso). Got dark, roasty coffee beans, Belgian dark chocolate, dry, dark cocoa nibs, smoky fire, ashtray and black licorice. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Enjoyed this one but I pretty much enjoy all coffee beers. Nice to the winter. (Overall - 4.00)

Bottle at Extraordinary Desserts. Pours dark brown with a tiny tan head and a chivolste aroma. There is a rich chocolate flavor that stays on the palate and also some coffee.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz. bottle, pours thick jet oily black with a medium brown head. Aroma is rich and complex, with dark chocolate, espresso notes and ample roasted malt. Flavour follows suit, with intense dark chocolate upfront, followed by a lovely roasted malt body, and ending on fine espresso. What a luxuriously velvety body this has. Pretty much everything I love about impies. Harmonious and amazingly drinkable. Phenomenal beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
First rating for this local brewery that has been around for quite a while. From notes from January 8, 2016. Draft at Burger Bench. Pours quite black with a bit of brown around edges and some creamy beige foam. AROMA of delicious artisanal coffee (slightly "green"), creamy chocolate, dark roasted nutty malts, and light vanilla. Flavor of good earthy and slightly spiced coffee with lesser notes of dark smooth and creamy chocolate...lots of dark roasty character but not burnt or bitter. Quite smooth mouthfeel, though this is not an oatmeal stout as far as I know. The big alcohol is very well concealed. I had the BA version of this just down the street at Plan 9 Alehouse right after this. (43, 1003)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours opaque rich black, medium creamy brown head, dissipates fairly quickly, nice lacing. Aroma is rich mocha, chocolate and cold press coffee, hint of ashtray. Flavor follows, medium sweet and light plus bitter, loads of mocha chocolate with a hint of smokiness. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel. Solid coffee stout for sure.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brown black with a foamy dark tan head. Aroma of mocha - more chocolate than coffee. A bit earthy. Near full bodied. Flavor starts dark malt, then coffee, then earthy dark chocolate. Bitter dark chocolate. This is not malty. It is quite delicious. Candy of the dark side.
