COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saluting our continued survival on this planet we decided to go all out with New Glarus Alt. This is a bold and racy toffee laced departure from the typical Dusseldorf style. Enjoy now or if you are the investment type lay it down. At twenty degrees Plato this might be more accurately termed a Triple Alt. The brilliant bronze body was cultivated in a three hour kettle boilof Caramel malts and Raw Turbinado Sugar. Aged on oak in open top fermenters followed by a second round of bottle conditioning. A firm head of foam sweeps brisk hop notes of Syrian Golding and German Hallertau to your nose. A defiant anomaly tenacious and independent this is a flavor experience to relish.

Pours a copper-amber with thin white head. Aroma is woody/oak with some hops. Taste is caramel, malt, noble hops. Somewhat effervescent. Not bad.

doesn’t taste at all like an alt as i’m told it should taste, more like a porter..yuk

Aroma is apple, banana, alcohol, caramel sweetness. Taste is sweet, sugary, some scant amount of hops that add compliment to the estery profile of the beer. Caramel, sugar, more alcohol, but not distractingly so. Some cotton candy in this bitch, too. I don’t know how much of this I could drink, but it is good. It’s like a barley wine had sex with a belgian single. Some oxidation, but again, not distracting. This might be a bit old., but it’s very solid. Hedonistic rating.

Pours a sort of bronze color with a nice thick fluffy white head. Aroma is largely sweet sort of candy like with some very mild hops. Flavor is very nicely dry some good alcohol notes play well with some apple, caramel and roasty notes. The hops are fairly muted but certainly provide a small bitter spiciness that while subtle is very good. Not at all what I expected but certainly very nice.

Bottle thanks to loubrew at BA. Clear orange-red color with a large soft white foam. Aroma is very floral, some understated sweet malts, toasted malt, oak and alcohol. Taste is more sweetness, oak, an herbal or floral type hoppiness, and light compared to many Alts.

Pours a cloudy orange caramel with a medium oft white head. Sweet aroma of cotton candy, candied malts, light floral hops and light toffee. Taste of candied malts, cotton candy, toffee with a hint of caramel. Interesting brew.

Pours a clear deep copper amber with a tight bubbled frothy white head and light lacing. The aroma is medium sweet with toasted munich malts and light noble hoppiness. Flavor is nicely sweet and is very well-balanced with the bittering hop addtions used. Nice noble hop flavor as well. Medium bodied, very crisp and clean texture. Finishes lightly sweet and again fairly crisp. Another great beer from New Glarus.

12oz bottle. pours orangeish red with white head. nose has notes of sweet toffee malts, wood, and floral hops. the taste is rather sweet, caramel mostly, just a bit toasty with some citrus with an oaky finish. med body, a really solid traditional alt but just left a little too much residual sugar for my tastes.
