This is nice. A woody aroma. This is fairly smoky. No real old flavor, but some smoke smoke and a nice finish to this.

Orange color. Malt aroma with malt flavor. True to style, good palate and drinkable.

An unusual taste, very sweet, nice head on the pour, lots of caramel, not much in the way of hops

Wasn’t what I expected out of an Alt from New Glarus. Has a very caramelly, biscuit aroma with a faint tinge of noble hops. Taste is sweet with a better mouthfeel than i expected. Lots of caramel, toasty, sweet flavors and very little emphasis on the hops. Drinks easily. Not my favorite from New Glarus, but still solid.

Bottle Pours out a amber/copper topped with a small head. Aroma was of spice and toast. Tast was some sweet caramel and more of the toasty notes. A nice belg yeast on it aswell. Thanks Toby

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Pours a clear deep orangish amber with a bubbly beige head that recedes to a collar fairly quickly.
The aroma is full of sweet caramel malts and lots of lighter fruits, apples especially. More sweet than anything else, but in a good way.
The taste is more complex with an initial apple fruitiness that gives way to caramel but with a more sizable bready backbone than the aroma suggested. There is some nutty presence as well.
The mouthfeel is very smooth, light to medium bodied, and full of carbonation.
I’ve not had many altbiers but this one sets the bar pretty damn high. It’s an exceptionally drinkable beer that has lots of complexity in the taste.

Huzzah, another deleted rating, along with my Apple Ale--where the f do these ratings go? Dammit. Clear orange caramel with a mostly lasting one finger beige head. Mildly sweet caramel with some almond sugar cookie malts up front with some light toasted malts and nobles in the background, as well as some spicy alcohol that lets you know the (unknown) strength of this beer. Flavor is much the same and the spicy alcohol was I think due in part to some noble hop spiciness as well. Bitterness peaked around a 3 in the lightly alcoholic semi-dry finish. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. I really enjoy this beer and kinda wish I had even more of it! Thanks to Colin for my original two bottles. I love this beer.

This was an eagerly awaited bottle from a recent trade. New Glarus seldom disappoints and this is no exception. It might not be the best beer but altbiers are not known for being aggressive. I would love to pick up sixers of this for daily drinking while it lasts. Those of you in Wisconsin are lucky.
Aroma / Appearance - The coppery brown body did not create much head even with agitation. A fresh load of banana nut bread complete with chocolate chips creates a very enticing aroma.
Flavor / Palate - Caramel chews, Wurther, and a nice bitterness makes this an easy drinking and pleasant session beer. On par with Fat Squirrel this would be a great tailgating beer if it is still around in the fall.
