3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 jewedekind (450) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 24, 2004
Sweet nose of fresh apples is faint and fleeting, but very unique. Nice frothy white head that ligerns as a thin ring. Sparse lacing. Light, slightly hazy copper or orange/brown. Taste is stewed apples throughout. Slight cinnamon late, even a bit of heat. Palate is sharp up front then smooths out, but leaves a bitter aftertaste, like apple cores (hope they removed the seeds!). Extra credit for adventure.

Apple sauce dominates the nose with a light but sharp tartness and baked brown sugar. Copper coloured with shy tan head that recedes to partial cover. Sweet brown sugar flavour is pregnant with apples and cinammon. Very nice, smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Bottle enjoyed with DYCSoccer17, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Omhper and Rastacouere.

Bottled. Amber colour, no head.Lovely acidic green apple aroma. Very sweet and lightly funky with cidery apple flavour. Refreshing, and even though it’s really sweet it doesn’t get cloying.

12 oz bottle: lively pour. Coppery, strawberry blonde, with a fluffy, starched white head.
Apple skin aroma with a slightly metallic undertones. Flowery, almost perfumed, notes surround a caramel malt sweetness. Pulpy, fresh cider flavour, initially a fruity sweetness (much better for me than a sugary sweetness)…cinnamon wisps and green apples dance in a very balanced harmony and give way in the end to a lush malt backbone. Nice carbonation reminds me that this isn’t just apple juice and overall I was impressed by my first apple beer…
Thanks a bunch Santa...Eyedrinkale
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Schroppfy (2353) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - NOV 21, 2004
Great! Facto provision number 2 - thanks!! Cinnamon and many different types of apple flavors abound - tart and sweet, quite leafy and twiggy, incredibly natural and authentic tasting. Looked absolutely beautiful, kept carbonation so perfectly, but what I really loved is the sheer number of separable apple types that must be in here. They all seem to swim throughout the flavor profile. Very good.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Rastacouere (6058) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 20, 2004
Deep orange robe, almost clear. Diminishing beige head. Direct apple compote nose overwhelms the senses. Shredded apple flesh thrown up the nostrils in a sweet fashion. Riped delicious (the brand) apple crustade, pie crust. Nice warming medium body, very comfortable, low carbonation. This is definitely interesting, but not in the leagues of the raspberry tart for instance. Maybe I’m just more of a raspberry guy, but this seems sweet and simple, which I’m aware the other one is also, but it fails to take on me and surpass futile concepts like caring about the complexity rather than overall enjoyment. Here, rather than smelling like a fresh harvest, it appears a bit oldish (which it sure isn’t). I fear this won’t age well at all, but I’m very glad to have sampled it. Cheers Barry!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 20, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 10, 2009 Heart-warming and tongue-moistening sweet and tart apple pie perfume and flavors...Less decadent than its Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart counterparts though, the apples fade into a smooth aftertaste, avoiding a cloying stickiness...Soft prickling helps the dessert functions but also makes it easier for us to see that this is not up to their 2 other fruit beers’ standards...Nutmeg adds to the pie character, yet this is as juicy and drinkable as apple cider...It’s not saying much, but this is probably the best apple beer I’ve ever had...

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2011 12 oz bottle. hazy orange, red body. white head. aroma of apples, heavy sugar, and sweet breads...flavor of sparkling apple juice, heavy vanilla and frosting..very sweet and desert-like..a bit too sweet, and not as crisp and natural as it used to be
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hotstuff (3350) - Indiana, USA - NOV 16, 2004
Thanks to jsquire for bringing this one to our Fort Wayne Tasting last Friday night. Small fizzy off-white head with sparse lacing, transparent, orange copper hue, and fast rising carbonation. Aroma was malty, caramel, sweet, and yes, apples! Flavor was sweet, acidic, tart, sour, malty, caramel, and apples. Tingly mouthfeel.

Bottled. Acquired in a trade with joeybgood. Thanks Joe! Copper colored with a small tan head.Aroma is wonderful! Mild apple, light spice (cinnamon), and maybe raw sugar. Taste is strong apple but mostly sweet than sour. Light sugary notes and spice. Body is light and very refreshing. Finsihes with more apple and spices. Some sucrose as well. Great beer!
