The “Back Forty” is property commonly found on the outskirts of the Wisconsin family farm. Here uncultivated acres wait prime for adventure- forts, tree houses, rope swings and first kisses! A place to run away, to camp, to climb, to build, to play. Not actually home but not too far away. That’s the Back Forty. The beer you hold is similar both dark and adventurous still smooth and familiar. Here’s a beer you can enjoy without pretense or explanation. Every mind requires some acres of possibility, space for dreams, the great escape, everyone needs a Back Forty.

Aroma of sweet caramel, mixed with notes of chocolate, and sweet malt. Nut brown color with shades of dark orange, with a unique white head. First taste is muted chocolate and sweet malt. Sweetness is muted quickly with an average bitterness. Finishes smooth with a balanced aftertaste. Might be more enjoyable in fall but nice beer.

[Bottle] Brown in color with a tint of orange to it. Very little head on top. Sweet and sticky aroma of sweet breads, caramel and raisins. Flavor notes include bread, light brown sugar, toffee and some nut. Syrupy, but not cloying. Another good one from this brewery.

Bottle. Pours a medium-deep chestnut color with an off-white head, superior retention and lacing. Nose is caramelly malts, German hops, mildly metallic. Mouth is medium bodied, those same caramel malts, dates, mild sweetness that fades quickly to a toasted bready pumpernickel body . In the Dells, there isn’t really much craft beer to be found besides those from New Glarus... and I could think of far worse problems. Nice little bock.
