ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA May 28, 2009 Bottle from trade with Monger. Big thanks, James! The nose is quite nice and the hops balance nicely. Color is an appealing glossy blood red with purple head. Flavor opens with cherry pie cherries and closes with a woody grain and fruit skin sensation. bookman10 (84), Osseo, Minnesota, USA May 25, 2009 Finally found a couple of bottles of this and they were worth the wait! Intense, fruity aroma. Pours a nice coppery-red color with a significant carbonated head that quickly dies down. Sweet flavor of cherry that never gets too cloying or overdone. There’s just a hint of hops and grain in the background. Easily the best fruit beer I’ve tried and probably the best beer New Glarus is currently producing. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA May 19, 2009 Thanks, Cheeseman. I’ve been wanting to try this for a while. Pours a reddish color with a foamy pink head. Strong cherry nose without being too medicinal. Lots of cherries in there, just like it should be. Very good. BgThang (118), Texas, USA May 14, 2009 nice fruity beer. The ladies really love this one. It has a lot of fruit going on and some may admit too much. its cherries for damn real. Couldn’t drink more than a few pints of this.
HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA May 14, 2009 Bottle. This was by far the BEST fruit beer I have ever tried. Poured a hazy reddish color with a thin off-white head. Lots of cherries in the nose. Flavor is major cherry and cherry pitt but not at all artificial, not really sour but a little tart. Excellent! nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA May 11, 2009 Finally got to try the beer that eluded me for so long, thanks to a friend that randomly had some. Pours a cloudy ruby red with a nice off-white head. Aroma of cherries and spices. Flavor is sweet cherry pie with cinnamon and brown sugar. Bready pie crust notes really add to it. Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth and silky. Best fruit beer I’ve ever had, hands down. noompa (130), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 8, 2009 Updated: May 12, 2009I pt. 9 oz. bottle (2009) in a flute; pours an unclear red bordering on brown, becoming a fiery amber in the light w/ an ephemeral off-white/light pink head; aroma is mostly dominated by sweet cherries and strong marzipan w/ an undertone of bubblegum; flavor is again dominated by the cherries and marzipan, more so by the cherries, which bring in a nice sourness as well; medium-bodied, finishing slightly tart. Tasty beer, but I’ve always maintained that its a tad too sweet. One of the better fruit beers out there nonetheless. ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA May 4, 2009 Pours a somewhat murky reddish brown, with a thin light tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of sweet cherry pie filling. Sweet cherry flavor, a touch of almond, and very light oak in the finish. More sweet than sour. Pretty substantial mouthfeel with a sharp effervescence. I’m going to go against the grain a little bit here - I like the Rasperry Tart better.
