walrussell (94), , Illinois, USA Oct 9, 2009 It goes really good with homemade apple pie that my girlfriend made AND NONE OF YOU CAN HAVE ANY - I like this better than Founders’ Cerise - its less sweet, more carbonated, and slightly more funky - nice subtle touch of hoppiness. smell is a little funky too. Cherry flavor is delicious - slight sour sweet. Great beer. Phillies2008Champs (26), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2009 2008 bottle which we drank at the UJs bottle share. (thanks Tom). Pours cloudy brown with little head and lacing. Nose strong with cherry, first sip is stong with brown malt but cherry Luden Cough Drop flavor is strong.. Sour Cherries and tartness permeate nicely. Finish is still sweet with cherries and slightly oaky flavor but not over powering. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Oct 5, 2009 Bottle at MesandSim’s tasting Aug 09. Thanks to HogTownHarry and Mes for this and to Ruth for allowing us to open this. Clear deep red, lasting beige head. Aroma of red fruits and toast. Some raspberry jam. Cherry and raspberries, slightly sweet like cherry juice. Some good cutting acidity on finish. It is very good. Very cherry-ish. Bit of toffee sweetness. Like cherry toffees. Good? Better than some krieks from Belgium? Not quite. Different and good though. Glace cherry flavours. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Oct 3, 2009 from the pitcher at GABF on 9/26/09... pours a light clear red with an off white head... huge sweet cherry notes on the nose... very delightful and a joy to smell... very sweet throughout the mouth... a bit too much for me. The cherries dominate with some other sweet fruit notes... somewhat tart finish. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Sep 30, 2009 Sampled both Thursday and Friday at 2009 GABF. Pink-red in color, and cloudy. Aroma is strawberries, soft brett, and white sugar. Flavor starts and finishes very sweet: cherry cough syrup, heavy cream, artificial strawberries. Faint tartness in finish, but not enough to balance sweetness. Body is oily and medium creamy, doesn’t work too well with all those sweet flavors unless you consume this is dessert. Disappointingly one-sided sweetness. NomDeBeer (398), Maryland, USA Sep 28, 2009 Pours bright red with a lasting pink head. Smells and tatstes like smooth cherry cola and fruit punch with a slightly tart finish for balance. Moderate carbonation with a clean palate and a lingering sour/sweet finish. Should have bought more. Schultsc (478), Henderson, Nevada, USA Sep 25, 2009 GABF ’09. Beautiful red color with a bright pink head. Aroma is very fresh with essence of cherries, light malt, very soft fermentation characteristics, and a touch of woody earthiness. The flavor conveys an amazingly broad spectrum of cherry characteristics--sweet fruit, acidity, tannins, dark fruit complexity, cherry pit bitterness, and flavorful tartness. This tartness seems to come from the sour cherries themselves rather than any secondary fermentation. This is truly a FRUIT beer. The body is light and nimble, delivering both the delicate nuances of the cherries at the same time as their more powerful overtones. This really is a fantastic beer. tedovertu (259), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Sep 22, 2009 Amazing flavor. Not as tart as the raspberry beer but great in the same capacity. Aroma of crushed cherries mixed with a little sugar. Sweet on the front side with just the right amount of tartness on the back end. Well work the trip to Wisconsin to get this stuff.
